Good question Newt,

Reminds me of a story (I'm nearing the age where everything reminds me of a "story"). In 1979 I was preparing for a cross country journey from Utah to Illinois to drop off a buddy. We stopped off in Leadville for 10 days and St. Louis 3 days. I had a 1972 6 cyl GMC, a wooden canoe strapped on top, a 76 Bonneville strapped in the back & the world's smartest Black Lab on the bench seat.

The GMC had a am radio and aftermarket 8-track. A so-called Utah friend gave us 4-5 8 track tapes to listen to. The best of the sorry musical lot was "John Denver's Greatest hits". I didn't realize Denver had enough hits to fill an entire 8 track. We mutually agreed we could only listen to it once a day. Some days, once was once tooooo much. AM radio local Farm Reports became our best entertainment. I won't even mention the scary stop at a back road general store somewhere in Missouri

One artist? Maybe Ann Murray (if Keith's along), the Carpenters or Bobbie Goldsboro
