I had a 2004 and it was the most comfortable bike I have ever ridden, period.
The heat problem can be fixed by closing out the cut outs in the frame where the battery and shock adjuster are.
What can't be fixed is the weight 750# plus. I used it for a commuter bike and the weight just got to me. I now have a 2008 Tiger much more commuter friendly for me.
All my opinion so take it with a little salt.
