Yeah, I suppose there's a correlation to be made between Mr. Bryant's mindset and those involved in the Brit Iron Rebels club....the latter of which otherwise known as guys maybe just a little TOO much into pudding bowl helmets and generally dressing the part as if they've maybe just left London's Ace Cafe circa 1962 after dropping 10p in a friggin' jukebox there!
(...NOT that there's anything wrong with that, but like you said John, if that mindset is to the EXCLUSION of appreciating OTHER facets of this sport, then there's a little narrow-mindedness goin' on there, alright!!!)

"Brit Iron Rebels", our bikes don't meet their standards, at least that's what them peckerwoods told me when I had an interest to join.

Well Ryk, maybe if you'd start wearin' a pudding bowl helmet, get into that Oh so English "Leather Boy" look of the 1960s, AND(and THIS could be the clincher here) faked a Cockney accent, then MAYBE those guys might accept you into their little club, eh?!
(...just tell 'em that BA of yours will soon traded in on a more "real looking" Britbike...they might buy that!!!)

Now WAIT one minute here, fellas!!!
I'll have you know that I(and Judie) put about 60 miles on my BA this afternoon while ridin' around these beautiful Ponderosa Pine-filled mountains of northern Arizona in mid-60 degree weather today!!!
(that's 18C to you down there, Bill)
And so, I don't think my little tirade about Mr. Bryant's "opinion as fact" has anything at all to do with "Cabin Fever".

I like Mr. Bryant's bike and I sort of agree with his idea that the America looks like a Bonnie's big sister, big beautiful sister IMO. The first time I saw an America I though, "well they blew up a Bonnie". The only thing about the America I'm not completely happy about are the forward controls and kudos to Mr. Bryant on that. But, Mr. Bryant's efforts to transform his America from a Bonnie's fat older sister he has trans formed it in to a Thruxton's fat older sister.

Does this post about a chubby, yet somehow charmingly beautify sister and the Happy Birthday Monica post somehow interconnect into an indicator of where the minds of the male species go at the break of spring - Lust and motorcycles. Ah, spring is in the air...

That's not Bill Bryant's bike, but I'll bet he has a cool ride (probably a few anyway). Nobody here is dogging Nick (the owner of this bike). Bill Bryant is the author of a piece on this bike on another site (Chop Cult) of which I am a member. Bill takes a couple shots at our bikes (which is his perrogative) I think, because he prefers the look of the origional bonneville. I went on the thread on Nick's bike and stated that "I disagree completely with Bill's opinion" and that I've never received as many compliments on a build as I have on my Speedmasters, (which is my perrogative). In the end, I'll bet we would all get along fine with Bill Bryant and sit down and have a few beers and listen to some rock & roll. I'll bet Bill Bryant never thought he was kickin' the proverbial bee's nest when he penned an otherwise eloquent article about a real cool bike.

I'd love to throw her on the back of my Speedmaster and take a ride down to the local cigar bar. I'd probably wear my full face.

what this guy did is take a cruiser that handles well and is comfortable to ride and attempt to make it into a cafe racer. i don't want rear sets on my bike, if i did then i would have bought a thruxton in the first place. he is entitled to his opinion... i don't agree with him.
+1

Actually the bike belongs to a certain Nick Serrano, the article is the work of Mr. Bryant.

Yep! Very well said...again!
And so, here's ya a THIRD beer, Paul!
And yeah, I'm sure Bill Bryant is a good decent guy, and yeah, I probably would have an entertaining time of it while enjoying a pint or two with the guy at some watering hole somewhere.

i deleted it after i read the thread in the bike section. i thought the owner of the bike was trashing the ba/sm and while i still think that changing the bike so drasticly is odd i thought my post might have been taken as a more personal attack and that was why i deleted it.
still don't want rear sets and like my speedy
If it isn't broke, I haven't messed with it.

I'm pretty sure no one was advocating that you do anything to your bike.
I don't know what it is about human nature (I do it too) that we can't appreciate something for what it is without qualifying that we would never do the same thing to our own __________ (insert subject here).
