I've got a pair, tho I've never actually come off with them. I reckon they're worth it - anything that saves your skin without making you look like a wanker's got to be good. I found the kevlar can get a little uncomfortable on long rides, but not nearly as uncomfortable as road rash.

Benny,

Did you get the American ones or the Canadian/Australian ones?

Wasn't me personally, was a friend. I think he got them in a shop somewhere, not online so I don't know.

Here's a link to the US Manufacturer. I'm told by the local dealer that they are not associated with the NZ company by the same name. http://www.dragginjeans.com/ BTW, mine are very comfortable. I haven't tried them but the local dealer's wife did and they worked as advertised. I got mine from American Sportbike

I thought these seem to be a good idea. A compromise somewhat for the sake of safety but still seem to be like a regualar pair of jeans. I just ordered a pair from a web site that had them for $10.00 less than the price on the draggin jeans website.

Well right now I pretty much just wear my double layer Carhartts. Nice stiff jeans, comfy enough, and I haven't found any good riding pants yet, so I'm thinkin they will be a good in between.

Jeans only need about 5 feet of pavement before they are shredded through exposing your skin. So your double layers may give you ten feet, 15 if you are lucky? Then you'll get to spend some quality time in the 'scrub room' at the ER wide awake while the dirt and gravel is literally scrubbed out of your open wounds. No thanks! The draggin jeans have kevlar in them, so even though the jean material will shred, the kevlar will keep your skin protected from the pavement. And while out riding, i've personally never felt a difference between them and regular jeans other than they are heavier.

They are definitely on my list. I would love some leather pants as opposed to chaps too, hard to find tho.

They are very much worth it. Many of you are familiar with the rough stone pavement here in N GA on the Russell scenic highway below Raven Cliff overlook. The Dragginjeans held(the kevlar parts)on a 40 mph downhill slide and I had no road rash at all despite burning thru the denim back pockets. There was lots of blue fuzz in the road (and my wallet between the double yellow lines) but I went right back to Blue Moon cycles in Norcross GA for another pair. W/o them it would have been bloddy and an insisted upon trip to ER by my buds. As it was, the end cap of the drag bars on SM and saddlebags took the brunt of bike friction while the D'jeans and Tri leather jkt. let me ride on home 50 mi.without a scratch. Thanks to Larry Sheppard for the recommendation of them.Best ridin' pants I could ask for if twice the $. Bob.

Now THAT's a testament!

I also own them (two pair now). They are a little heavier than jeans but I can handle that. I've worn them all day with no ill effects. Definitely asking for another pair for my birthday...

I am still waiting for the pair that I ordered. They have been on backorder. I ordered prior to reading the testimonial above. The manufacturer should print that.

Wear the Draggin Cargo pants myself. Like the big side pockets. The Aussie cut is slightly different then the American cut of my lower end though.

Cargo

Hope I never get the chance to test them.

I like those. How did you get the aussi ones in the states? Were they more expensive?

Just dug out the sales receipt. Bought them in March '04 (still holding up well} at a pricey $100 + $25 shipping from kangaroo land via on-line ordering. I'd probably go the cheaper US jean route next time.

As always, thanks for your opinions, gents. I didn't know about this company, only planned on checking out Carrharts for some good jeans, I like these Draggins.

Ya know now that you mention it, I feel like the Carhartts have gotten more baggy lately, which makes them flap around on my lower legs when riding. I may order up some draggins too.

For cold or damp rides I wear my Triumph Waterproof Jeans ($180) - Triumph now calls them their Western Jeans - they are black cordura, not denim (they do have denim available). They have a windproof, waterproof, breathable membrane (like Gore-Tex?)between the cordura and the mesh lining. Very comfortable, and though they have jeans style pockets, I've been accused of being "dressed up" in them because they almost look like nice black slacks (accept for the back patch pockets). They have removable armor in the knees, which I leave out because the pockets are too low so the armor rides below my knees. But for protection - other than from the elements - I have only the cordura. (I originally ordered the LeatherTex jeans last winter and was told they had been discontinued. Shame - I really wanted those jeans.)

Draggin Jeans provide the fair weather protection, but not the windproof, waterproof traits, and I'm not sure how "breathable" they are - maybe they do.

Leather provides the protection from skids and wind, but isn't generally waterproof. And it costs a lot more than the Draggin Jeans do.

I ride in regular jeans alot in fair weather, so I see some Draggin Jeans in my future. And some chaps.

I'm real tempted to order a pair. Only hesitation is they only list to 36" inseam, which can be borderline "high water" pants for me. Then again, some 36" inseams fit alright.

Well I'm 6', and I run a 32" inseam... I guess that's only 4 more inches and 6'4 isn't THAT tall if you're all leg. I dunno it just seemed really long to me when I read it!
Cabbot VT cheese I hope, right? It's the best

I have two pair of Draggins. One is fleece lined for winter riding and is GREAT. VERY comfortable and I stay warm. The other pair are heavier than "normal" jeans and feel hot in July-August.

Has anybody noticed that the "Model" on their site is sitting on a Trumpet...one more reason to buy their jeans...they obviously have fine taste in motorcycles!

If it says W650, then it is a Kawasaki copy of a Bonneville.
These came out a few years before Triumph re-introduced the Bonnie.
