with out a doubt the t-bird. 80 mph in 6th gear is only turning 3000 rpm. at 55 - 65 mph you don't even know the thing is running.
the speedmaster is turning 4200rpm at highway speed 70ish mph (current gearing for more fun) now if the speedmaster had a sixth gear! the comparison might be less one sided.
I still take them both on long trips without a second thought other than one up or 2 up.

did some new stuff to the t-bird over the last few months. inside she has the 1700 storm cams and modified intake. and outside... rework turing seat with gel padding and a deer hide covering, the silly bar pad as well. a little paint work t-bird brake cover duece risers with custom adapters to use the stock rubber mountings added oil pressure gauge and custome oil filler cap added crash bars and new tires as well

Are the dual headlights a kit for the T-bird? Or did you put that together yourself?

the head lights are for a HD fat bob (I know its sacralage) but they look pretty good and I didn't have to buy the rest of the bike just to get them.

Got any close-up pictures? Are those the one-piece dual lights? Did you have to do anything special with the bracket or mounting block?

I rode the 2011 Thunderbird and it's a very nice ride. You've done some very nice mods there.
They do come with the dual front headlights if I remember correctly. But I'm sticking to my America for now. Just fits me perfectly.

Nice Bird and mods! The '11 Storm is the only T-bird that comes standard with dual headlights. It also comes with the 1700 big bore kit.

the lights are a one piece chrome unit. No special mounting block is needed, however I did add a 1 1/2 inch block to raise the lights some the fork bag fit better and there is no gap between the lights and the upper triple tree.

You know Micah, whilst this may sound dumb (ok is dumb ) I can't imagine having two bikes like you do. I could have an oldie classic but not two which I'd always be comparing. I can imagine myself having to choose one or the other for some reason like there was some sort of personal conflict happening. Good on you though and Thanks for the pics.

Mag 10, did ya buy tha new badge from your local dealer, and if so, what bike did it come off (Speedmaster perhaps)? I've been lurking over at the 1600.com website and have seen a few of those guys that have done that mod...I'd like to do that to my T-Bird

those badges are for the rocket 3 touring bike, and I did get them from the dealer. I only bent them slightly and used 2 layers of 3M automotive adhesive tape to mount them. They were just plain chrome to start with but I painted black inside the lettering to make them stand out move.

Thanks for the info, headin to my dealer this weekend, will ask what the cost of those are; in my opinion, the stock T-Bird ones are a bit small...that looks really good on your bike...

thought I would update this a bit. added a R3 flyscreen to go with the dual headlight and pave the way for a speedo relocation. also replaced exhaust with BC hogslayers, but no picture yet as bike is in hibernation mode.

an early spring has caused the T-bird to emerge from hibernation. I was able capture these images. Rocket 3 flyscreen - works amazingly well despite its small size! view of hogslayer exhaust with stock heat shields fitted I added an oil temperature gauge to the left oil galley plug over the winter months. I got her out on Sunday last and installed a custom tune to cover the exhaust mod (de-cat and BC hogslayers) the power is excellent across the full throttle range and no pop on decel

The Rocket III flyscreen looks really good on there. If I didn't already have a Windvest I would've gotten one for the Rocket, color matched to the Pacific Blue.

Looks like your Bird had the D&D exhaust at first, and then you went with the hogslayers, is their a reason for the change other than appearance?

I had the D&Ds on for 2 summers with a 20306 tune (and they ran great) before I switched from the D&Ds to the hogslayers. For several reasons. With the other mods to the bike I wanted to get rid of the cat. I made up a nice set of cat by pass pipes (and played with various baffle schemes) tried tuning solutions but could not quite get what I was looking for. Plus, and this may sound odd, but the D&D's with no cat were just too loud. With the hogslayers and a custom tune the power is effortlessly smooth (and awesome)thoughout the entire throttle range. And the sound is a bit more mellow. It doesn't set off all the car alarms in a half miles radius like the scepters on the speedmaster.

Thanks for the info on the exhaust, I just sold my '97 Triumph Trophy and have a line on a used 2010 T-Bird with stock pipes. One of the first changes will be the exhaust, should be pulling the trigger on the purchase next week. Robert '04BlackTBA

I have made some changes to the bird this year to make it more 2 up/ long distance riding oriented. the front tool bag is gone. the dual headlight is gone. (moved to 05 SM)the OEM light is back but now flanked by Rivco 55/60 watt visored head lights (thanks to fast eddy). The fairing is a corbin contraband (the contraversial one, love it or hate it, no middle ground). No windsheild on it for the hot weather, but I have a 13 inch windvest for the long highway trips. Also the pillion pegs have be moved an additional 1 1/2 inches up. The result of passenger feedback!

after a number of long trips riding 2 up, where I could not use the pillion pags as a optional riding position change. I descided to add these peg mounts. They are near to the original pillion peg location but slightly lower. Since the actual pillion foot pegs were already moved up and back there is plently of room to get my feet on these. The 2 pegs complete weigh less than a pound. peg up - you dont even see it. peg down
