For cold or damp rides I wear my Triumph Waterproof Jeans ($180) - Triumph now calls them their Western Jeans - they are black cordura, not denim (they do have denim available). They have a windproof, waterproof, breathable membrane (like Gore-Tex?)between the cordura and the mesh lining. Very comfortable, and though they have jeans style pockets, I've been accused of being "dressed up" in them because they almost look like nice black slacks (accept for the back patch pockets). They have removable armor in the knees, which I leave out because the pockets are too low so the armor rides below my knees. But for protection - other than from the elements - I have only the cordura. (I originally ordered the LeatherTex jeans last winter and was told they had been discontinued. Shame - I really wanted those jeans.)
Draggin Jeans provide the fair weather protection, but not the windproof, waterproof traits, and I'm not sure how "breathable" they are - maybe they do.
Leather provides the protection from skids and wind, but isn't generally waterproof. And it costs a lot more than the Draggin Jeans do.
I ride in regular jeans alot in fair weather, so I see some Draggin Jeans in my future. And some chaps.
