Just a quick update.

I have already blocked off 10 rooms (since my first visit) at the Hotel Meteora (Euros 48 per twin room per night including a basic breakfast). I am holding off on the campsite as I want to check it out and take pictures (Meteora Gardens Camping- Euros 7 per night) and until I can get in to see the bungalows it also has on the premises. I also had another in mind but this is the closest to the hotel - around 500-600 meters in a straight line.
The campsite will be open as from 2nd May (next week) so I'll probably be dropping in the following weekend.
Pictures of both to follow campsite visit (so as to keep them together in one post).

Just my opinion, but I always enjoy a rally more when everyone is on the same site, rather than at two sites. That way, its easier to chill out with everyone, rather that the "we'll meet up at" scenario that you have with a two site deal.

As the campsite has bungalows, wouldn't they be okay for those that want a room rather than to camp?

Feel free to shoot me down if you want.

Good point Shaun.
They were working on the premises last weekend when I went up there (they had just opened ... supposedly).
I'll do another run this weekend and finalize arrangements.

I agree with you Shaun too. Its not good idea to travel across the Europa and then arrange visits to see each other.
Just to update our plans. We declare 2 boys and 4 girls (Ani, Beata, Marta, Agata, Jurek and me) are ready to meet the gang again this year, and we prefer rooms (bungalows?) for all, or 2 rooms and camping if there is no other choice.
For that moment Jan and Maciek is not coming and Krzysztof is not sure yet.

@ Pawel... I fully respect you! Go for it dude.

Well I hope to be greeting a handful of you lot at Bad(ass) Zurzach on the evening of 26th July!?

I've arranged at the 'Achenberg Restaurat/Farm' - up on the hill at the back of my village, that you'll be coming. Camping, fires and loud noises are NOT a problem. Just exactly how many of you will be turning up I don't yet know - but that's not a problem. Here a link to a google map of the area.
Should the weather turn or people would like a bed, then there are 'military' style sleeping quarters - know as 'Massenlage' in the German language - for up to 16 people. It's a simple place - with good prices (considering it's Switzerland). Should anyone of you want a more 'demanding' accommodation, then let me know - I'll look at some Hotels down in the village.

Costs:
Camping: SFr. 10.--
Breakfast: SFr. 12.--
--
Massenlage: SFr. 25.--
Massenlage + Breakfast: SFr. 35.--

Here's some pictures to give you an idea of what to expect:

The Achenberg Restaurant:

Seating outside and viewing the out-house with the Massenlage:

There is always a Harley/Indian meeting once a year up there - always a great event to see:

Here's some videos (Utube) of the camping area:
Restaurant, Outhouse (Massenlage) behind the large tree and then looking up to the camping area/field
Small Chapel, Forest Grill, Flat camping ground and looking down to the Restaurant

So I hope that's OK!?

Oh btw Thanassis - I'd like to reserve a room if possible!? I also believe Joe would too!
Thanks.

Sorry Lee but you overestimated my possibilities this time. Maybe if I would like to divorce.
Everyday things takes so much time so we haven't decide about our route yet. Any suggestions ? All we know we go 2 bikers and 1 ladys car.

Just got back from a lazy 2 days (what a terrible life I lead ) up in Meteora.
Will be putting up pics, maps and final details (single location for all ) either tomorrow or over the weekend.

Was doing a simple diagram which took a bit longer than I thought.

Please forgive the artwork and photography.

In order to get us all in one location I cancelled rooms already held and did a new recon during last week.

I have blocked off space (actually conquered/seized the whole front area) at the Vrachos Camping grounds in Kastraki "Vrachos Camping link" (just below the Meteora range). The location is superb (considering the view of Meteora).
We have reserved a range of mini-bungalows (4 beds each) - caravans (4 beds each) - and
(tent) camping space very near the swimming pool area (see diagram).

All together? It doesn't get closer than this!

Grounds diagram:

Entrance:

Mini-bungalows:

Large BBQ area:

Small BBQ area:

Swimming pool area:

The owner Vrassarios ... waiting for us (I strongly suspect he's a good example of old-style Greek hospitality).

If you can just PM me with requirements and also those requiring vegetarian meals.

The site looks great..

Hi Dave.

I never got to see the one's in Sweden, but these have 2 beds on either side, one upper and one lower (same goes for the caravans).

Dave, just thought I'd warn you the tent-space is just outside the swimming-pool area.
This in case you were envisioning waking up amidst a pack of bikini clad ladies.

Well, I finally got 'round to registering on the site after spying on this thread for some time. I know Thanassis from the T1600 site and will be showing up for the Euro rally in Greece.

I'm in Germany and will be riding down with Birdy/Lee for this event, then taking the long way back (from Bridisi up the length of Italy) for a slow tour return. Just thought I'd pop in and say hello and give you all a warning that I'll be there.

can't wait.

A good friend of mine called Christos, runs a small supermakert and a restaurant foodstuff supply business.
He'll be joining us (along with a couple of my other friends) and has pledged 400 beers in hope of contributing to the success of our little gathering in Meteora.

Just thought this was worth a mention ...
