Anybody ever heard of it? Sounds interesting. http://www.motorcycle-travel.net/I'm much more comfortable hosting people from BA.com, than other "strangers." And I don't know if I have the energy to join another site and get to know all those new people.

I would never fit their criteria and would probably be evaluated as one of those socially unacceptable biker types with beer cans strewn everywhere, and hundreds of stinky butts overflowing from yesterday's ashtrays!! Yet I can assure any wayward rider/traveler of clean accommodations, a decent sleep, private washroom, a super fantastic breakfast including the BEST coffee this side of the Rockies, vista views, down home and unpretentious hospitality, and free tour guiding of what amounts to be some of the best riding to be had anywhere, anytime, hands down!!! But I don't fit into their goody two-shoes mold (thank Gawd)!

Nothing I can do about that but here's how I justify what I wrote. A quote from the MTN website...
"We request that you submit a photo of your home. From this, we do a visual check to see that the homes are well maintained and neat."
My home is old. I has cracks in the stucco siding, needs paint real bad, the back is half renovated and may never be finished, the floors are worn, and that original lath and plaster interior walls look like... original lath and plaster walls. Yet my guest accommodation (my studio) is fully renovated and in pristine condition, although all I have to offer for a bed is a comfortable couch or an air mattress on the floor.
If I submit a picture of my house to MTN, it would I'm sure conjure up images similar to the stereotypical biker I described in my post above. Frankly, at a glance (which is all a picture offers) from the street, my house looks run down and neglected. So, that is my point about what I said above and now everyone knows I live in a shack!! (Not really... inside as I said, my studio is brand new, I have 2 fully renovated bathrooms, brand new plumbing, a roof that doesn't leak and a newish huge deck overlooking the mighty Columbia River.)
Now, having said what I just did about my house I have yet to mention my "alternative lifestyle" which is something I don't hide and does NOT fit well within the boundaries of mainstream society. Nope, I just would not fit their criteria as a good a proper host, yet.......
Now do you understand what I meant in the other post o' mine up there, John?

I'm just a motorcyclist, man. Just an ordinary bloke on a bike so I guess I feel a bit of kinship for anyone on two wheels.
And I guess I was focusing more on the travel aspect than the hosting, but it is a double edged sword. My house looks okay on the outside but I couldn't host (strangers anyway) with half the inside being torn up. Of course that won't always be the case (I hope!).
The reason I was intrigued by this concept is because that's what we do here, we just don't open our homes to complete strangers (usually). I probably can't even remember how many couches and spare rooms and floors I've slept on because of this site and other friends. Seemed like a logical connection to me.

We should probably copy it and do something like that for members here. It's already done informally. Maybe just a directory of sorts. This one I WOULD put in a forum and make it blocked to all but registered users.

They would be in a surprise when I show up by myself..the hubby would be swinging by Himself..and depending upon Her looks,She maybe swinging alone also 
life is good..I am retired..sold my America in 2008,bought a Rocket and sold that in 3/2013 and now own a new Triumph Bonneville T-100

Reckon this would be a great idea. Frank and Jo are headed over your way this year and my wife Chanelle and I are headed to the US in September for over 3 weeks. Would be great to meet some of the US members in person and also there is the local knowledge side of it. On the flip side there are quite a few of us in OZ who would welcome a visit from other site members over your way.

Btw, I hope nobody other than John got the wrong impression of me back there at the beginning of this thread. To reiterate all I was saying is my house would not pass the 'standards' of being a host. I myself am a peace loving, candle and incense kinda guy who loves meeting people. Everyone is welcome here and my house only 'looks' a bit rundown... it keeps my taxes low ya see!!

Sounds like my kinda place, and my kinda company, Keith! I have often wondered what some of you fella's would do if you showed up at my crib for the night. First, and formost, there is "THE ROAD". My private drive has been rented by NASA in times past for them to test their lunar and Mars rovers for toughness. And I'm hardly kidding. But once you get up my humongous, rough and nasty hill, the house and property are ok. Well, maybe the house could best be described as "lived in", as in, "life in the country". Still, we eat good and it is very private. But as to the other cycle site, I'm betting that I might not fit in there. Sounds a little too judgemental to me. Probably for the swanky-er Gold Wing/Beemer set. It would be good to have our own registry,though, and I'm all for that!
