Bummer! Same thing happened to me, many years ago. After religiously wearing my leather jacket every time I rode, hot or not, I left it at my good friends house cause I wanted to show off the new T shirt she bought me. Smacked a deer on the way home. Tore up the bike, broke a collar bone with some rash, AND destroyed the shirt. Pretty sure I would have come out unscathed if I'd had my jacket on!
