Th point is that if a guy has a red speedmaster and wants to dupe the plates on a red speedmaster he'll get on the web and find a pick of one much easier than driving around and checking all the local gas stations. I imagine this is a larger problem in countries such as Britain that allow bike owners to make their own plates (or at least have them made). In the states only the states can create plates.
