WTF...no orange and black bandannas????

Nope Steve. Ya see, this photo was part of a very short-lived promotional campaign which The Motor Company hoped would catch the public's fancy just prior to and during the early stages of WWII. However, "You meet the nicest people on a Harley", never quite caught on.

And so, it would be another 20 years or so until another motorcycle manufacturer would attempt to match the idea of clean cut, happy, smiling people(such as those pictures above) with the idea of riding motorcycles.

However, as we all know, Harley-Davidson would eventually find their advertising stride in the 1980s, and in promoting the idea that while riding one of their products one can project idea of being a frowning, orange and black bandanna-wearing hard-a$$!

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
