Not the most articulate person if you read his descriptions. Like 100 perfect or addition instead of edition. Was wondering if I would see my friends 72 Bonnie there.

Oddly enough, all 3 show zero bids. Wonder if it's because the owner isn't so popular lately?

That would be my choice outta the three there too Stevie. $8500 seems like a reasonable price, especially for a limited edition.

There is something wrong with these entries. He would never put them up himself with typos, he has a staff of folks that do that. He doesn't have, like what, 5 grand to restore a Norton? His electric bill is 5 grand.
I don't believe he is broke. Maybe this is another story facet to get some publicity.

You heard right. http://www.orangecountychoppers.com/news/the-truth-behind-occs-foreclosure
"We have been in negotiations since last summer with GE Commercial Finance to restructure our building’s mortgage. GE decided to file a foreclosure against the building..."
It doesn't take a PhD in economics to realize that GE Capital doesn't want a building like that on their poison assets books, especially in a small town location in the middle of nowhere in the midst of a double digit unemployment recession. Point being it took a lot more than an "Aw shucks let's foreclose on the big ape" for GE to go there. It's reasonable to assume that GE would be lucky to sell it at a third it's value in these times.
The new building appears to be more of a shrine to ego than a work space. Not sure how brisk the market is right now for product like theirs, although the entire store bought / factory built chopper concept confuses me anyhow - kind of like buying microwave toast.
To paraphrase an old saying:
It's one thing to have a lot of money, and quite another to know how to hang on to it.
I'm thinking from the dialog in the shows, neither Paul nor Paul are on speed dial to the CFO of Bank of America for their money management expertise. ````````````````````````````````````
Further ramblings from Coffee Boy: The TV deal
The Discovery Chanel didn't get to be a xxx million dollar operation by giving stuff away. It wouldn't surprise me if the OCC merchandising empire is almost wholly owned by the TV guys. I have a feeling that OCC is /was paid for their merch & TV rights much like the early blues guys - a wh0re and a bottle of whiskey per performance.

I too have a problem with a factory built "chopper". It isn't a chopper if you didn't take a factory built bike and chop it. He builds customs. His production like is just that, a production built bike, not a chopper.

They are called " billet" sleds. Ian is right about a chopper. You have to chop a production bike to have a chopper.

I quit looking at them Tetuls. When one day I'as watchin, and Jr. used his big ole dinosaur hoof to cram a battery into a battery box they had made too small and was already on the bike. They charge as much as $300,000.00 for those bikes.

When they picked up my friends Bonnie they had the Wendy's bike in the trailer and said that one was $400,000. I have a certain respect for Paul Sr.,he built up his business from nothing but a pick up truck and mobile welder. He also beat a bad drug addiction. So he may have issues now but you have to give him some credit. I am not a fan of what he builds either and I use build loosely since I have seen those clowns try and build a tranny and screwed it all up. They basicly bolt stuff together , add some gingerbread and call it a build.

Wikipedia has the B2 pegged at 2.87 Billion per plane (for 21 units) when you consider the development costs.
Quote - The cost of each aircraft averaged US$737 million in 1997 dollars ($1.01 billion today).[3][4] Total procurement costs averaged US$929 million per aircraft ($1.27 billion today[4]), which includes spare parts, equipment, retrofitting, and software support.[3] The total program cost, which includes development, engineering and testing, averaged US$2.1 billion per aircraft (in 1997 dollars, $2.87 billion today).
That is one h#ll of a lot of cash.....

I gotta agree with you Ian. I have no joy in seeing them fail, if that's where it goes. They had a good ride for a long time anyway.
I also worked with family for many years - it can be heaven or it can be hell all within the same breath of air.
Speaking of Triumphs, I found this on their web site. Very easy on the eyes
I can't tell - is that little tube a suspension on the rear?

Wow! So in THAT case, one o' those "nifty neato" O.C. Chopper B-2 bikes would REALLY be a steal then, eh Greg?! Well then, I guess we won't ever have to heed the advice of another and much more accomplished Dwight who once famously remarked while on his way out the door..."Beware of the Chopper-Industrial Complex!", huh?! (...well, he said SOMETHING like that anyway, didn't he???!)

Yep Martin, that appears to be what was called a "Plunger" style rear suspension there, which many motorcycle manufacturers used until the "Swing Arm" rear suspension became the norm.
And yeah, and I have to admit the few episodes I did happen to run across by accident and later on in the run of this program, they did seem to FINALLY be gettin' away from their same ol' same ol' practice which consisted of bolting the same ol' same ol' S&S V-Twin into the same ol' same ol' rigid frame, and then "cake decorating" it.

I call these things "custom bikes". Definitely not a traditional chopper. Most normal folks lump them all into the chopper category.... Quote:

I stand corrected. Thanks.
I understood their product line as being named "choppers"

Maybe "not really choppers" would be more appropriate.

Well, then MAYBE we should call REALLY long and stretched-out motorcycles(that can't handle worth a damn) such as the ones the Walrus Man & Sons make..."Chopper-STYLE", eh guys?!
Be-CAUSE, a "custom" motorcycle can be built in the vein of a Street Tracker, or a Bobber, or a Cafe Racer, and so on, and so on, and so on....RIGHT?!
(...sorry, but this little "debate" here reminds me of how some of "The Faithful" over at Cycleworld.com refuse to believe that their most hallowed Harley-Davidson motorsickles can or should be called "Cruisers"...WHICH, of course, MOST of H-D's fine line of motorcycles ARE!!!)

I recently discovered a show on cable (HDT) called "Cafe Racer". Obviously, Brit bikes feature prominently, but they also do segements on guys who build their own cafe racers out of old Triumphs, Hondas, Nortons, etc. Not really my style of bike, but far more interesting to watch than the Teutel temper tantrum antics.

Saw the first episode two weeks ago here in Oz. I was really looking forward to it but unfortunately an American production team seemed dead set on trying to Americanise the original pommie concept. Some good original footage of the mods & rockers era but very repetitive B & W footage. I lost interest real quick and didn't bother to chase up episode 2.
I understand what you're sayin' here, John. However, I think the message the producers were tryin' convey with that whole idea that the Cafe Racer is now more "American than British" is that there are(or maybe seemingly anyway) many more Yank motorcycle customizers making this style of motorcycle than there are Brits today, and especially now that this style has finally "caught on" over here after years of having the Chopper being somewhat predominate in the American custom bike field.
And actually, I think that the producers of this show in many of the episodes DO give due credit to the Brits for originally coming up with the concept of the Cafe Racer.
(...maybe you just need to watch a few more episodes of this program to see that, eh?!)

They did an interesting segment on the new Nortons. But yes, the show does focus on American Cafe Racer people, since it's a US production. I s'pose if there was an Australian equivalent it would focus on Aussie cafe racers.
