Yep Martin, that appears to be what was called a "Plunger" style rear suspension there, which many motorcycle manufacturers used until the "Swing Arm" rear suspension became the norm.

And yeah, and I have to admit the few episodes I did happen to run across by accident and later on in the run of this program, they did seem to FINALLY be gettin' away from their same ol' same ol' practice which consisted of bolting the same ol' same ol' S&S V-Twin into the same ol' same ol' rigid frame, and then "cake decorating" it.
