Well Stacka - I think you've got your priorities right. Giving away your daughter at her wedding is a pretty important life event and, looking good while you're doing it is important too. At least from the female perspective, and let's face it that's the only perspective that matters in a wedding, any wedding, that is - if you want to stay married. So we understand why your wife doesn't want you to look like a toothless old biker. (imagine the little grinning face has a couple of pearly whites missing) On the other hand, from a male or fatherly perspective, there is a definite advantage in scaring some holy fear into your prospective son in law, that unleashing the mean ugly biker look (discretely in private of course) can well achieve. Anyhow, you have obviously considered both options and made the wisest choice. And we, your brothers in Bonneville, support you. We will, however, miss your presence at Ozbam. You have been a prime mover for the inspiration, launch and planning of the 1st Ozbasm and we are grateful and, if I get around to making patches for the inaugural Ozbasm, then I'll keep one aside for you. On that note, I kinda like the name OZBASM (standing for Ozzie Bonneville America Speedmaster Meet) - I can see it on a patch or t-shirt. "OZBASM - Where Triumphs come together" Shoot me down in flames if you don't like it but I'm on a roll here so you'll have to be quite outspoken to pull me back into line. Actually I was thinking of a more conservative little patch something like ... 1stOZBASM 2011... looking nice and pretty of course - I can design that but it won't let me do it here.

Thanks for the sentiments Richard, they mean a lot and of course make me realise that much more what I'll be missing. As far as Osbasm, the first time I read it I thought it was a typo and then I thought hey, riding our bikes can at times be better than sex so why not. After all, arriving at Bulahdelah after a brilliant ride from whichever direction your "coming" from, will be somewhat akin to that Neanderthal beast thing we are all a product of. Yeah I like it. It's got real character attached to it and just imagine the numerous or should that be multiple ways it'll be twisted in piss fueled yarns. Go for it mate. A big thumbs up from me anyway brother.

No worries Stacka, I sure everyone will understand and as you know I not going myself due to not having the funds plus it's to cold down that way at that time of year for this Queenslander lol.
Stacka all the best on your overseas trip and for your Daughters wedding and there is always next year for the next OzBam Meet, maybe at a warmer time of year and oh yer there is a nice caravan park at Sawtell and it's a nice area around Coffs Harbour hint, hint, wink, wink, lol cheers.

Heads Up ... Cheap merino thermal underwear.Aldi have a sale starting Thursday 7th July on Aussie merino thermal underwear in black for $30 each (long sleeve top or long johns). You can view the web page here. I can not vouch for the quality but I have a pair of NZ merino long johns and top and they are bloody brilliant (bloody expensive too). These will keep you warm for the Ozbasm ride and no stink - literally! I can, and do, wear them for a week with no smell at all - amazing. I tell you, after a week without changing normal underwear I could empty a shopping mall (I haven't tried this yet) but not with merino wool. It has awesome anti-bacterial properties and lovely against the skin - no itch. Sheep are amazing, and cute too.

OK here's a design for the OZBASM patch. Let me know what you think and if you want one. I haven't priced it yet but a small run of 10 or 20 is probably going to be about $20 each. I have used a similar typeface to the Triumph logo and trying to keep the patch as small as possible. If we go too small the embroidery wont reproduce the fine detail (small type) very well. So this is about actual size.

Richard - Awesome work on the patch! Count me in for 1. Stacka... Sad to hear that you are not coming given all of the initial work that you put into the trip. However be assured that you have done the right thing. Good luck with it all.

That is a cool patch. I wonder if I could make it in a day trip.
Whats the plan on the Saturday? Would that be the best day? I can't afford hotels and stuff.
It would be good to meet you guys.

First to all, to all who have mentioned kind words and understanding about my not attending, thank you. It only reinforces what I know I'll be missing and the exact reason we arranged it to start with. Secondly, IMHO it makes no difference whatsoever to those that can only make it a day ride. They made the effort to turn up which was the best they could do under the circumstances and isn't that the spirit we're after??? They get my vote and like me, of course we all want to be there to enjoy each others company for the weekend. Life can just get too blo*dy complicated some times. What I'm hoping is, we all want another one to happen again down the track. Finally, I love that patch Richard. It's got real talent and says heaps to me. Of course I can't speak for others but unless someone can come up with a better one, start taking orders regardless. I just couldn't agree to another one popping up without consultation though cos that'd be divisive IMHO. In other words, if anyone does have a design they'd prefer, speak up now so Richard knows what to do. Anyway, even though I won't be there in person, I'll be there in spirit as lie in my Manila hotel room. Can't really go out by yourself at night over there so I know we're I'd prefer to be. Can't be helped but I'll be in the hotel Internet lounge looking for some great yarns of the trip when you all get home. Stacka

I don't quite follow what you mean Benny. Kent and I are taking 2 days to come back - leaving Sunday, staying overnight in Nymbodia and arriving Brisbane on Monday. Of course you're welcome to join us if that timetable suits you.

Hey Benny. The screen sounds like a good idea - keeps you warmer and less tiring on your 8 hour ride. I imagine the coast route you are taking won't be too cold - Kent and I are riding down via the mountains and in addition to the warm gear, we're not riding before 9am or after 4pm.

I am going to PM everyone that has said they are coming to give them my mobile number and to get theirs (if they want to give it to me). That way if someone has a breakdown or a change of plans enroute they can let us know so we don't worry if you don't turn up as expected. It may also be useful in locating each other as everyone is turning up at various times and days.

OK all, I can't make it. My new job is with the Newcastle Museum and that is our grand opening weekend. Consequently I won't be able to get away. I will cancel my room at the Mount View for Saturday night if anyone is interested. Bit of a bummer but if anyone is passing through Newie drop in the museum on the harbour and say Gday. Have a great weekend all.

Where the best Triumphs come together Hey guys, the first ever Ozbasm is nearly here. Here's the up to date list of attendees AFAIK: Arriving Friday:Kent1969 (Kent) Foglefar (Richard) Islandbum (Benny) Buckers (Terry) DollarBill (Bill) Arriving Saturday:JohnQuinell (John) StevieB (Steve) Xvsreaper (Derek) If you have a last minute change of plans or a breakdown, please let me or someone else that's attending know so we don't worry if you don't show. You all have my mobile. And you are welcome to call as you near town to find out where we are gathered. If I don't answer the phone it probably means that I'm riding. I will endeavour to check for unanswered calls each time I stop and call you back. I don't have message bank but you can text me or I will return the unanswered call. Kent and I hit the road on Thursday and we'll have 1,000 kms of twisties ahead of us. We should arrive in Buladelah around 4pm Friday. As you will have read in Stacka's own posts, sadly, he can't make it but he will be with us in spirit. Single malt I'm guessing. I'll toast you with a Jamesons on Friday night mate. Several others also wanted to, or planned to, join us but can't make it for various reasons. Hopefully next time eh fellas? Wow ... I'm ready for a great ride, lots of laughs, great stories and yarns about bike stuff, more drinks than I'm used to (not while riding of course) and excellent company and new friends - although I feel like I know many of you already. See you there. Ride safe and enjoy. PS ... If you've been lurking on this thread and would like to join us this weekend, you are welcome. It's not too late. The accommodation & contacts are detailed in this thread. You can come for a day trip on Saturday or one or two nights - it's up to you. The folks listed above are simply the ones who have confirmed they are coming.

Kent1969 (Kent) Foglefar (Richard) Islandbum (Benny) Buckers (Terry) DollarBill (Bill) JohnQuinell (John) StevieB (Steve) Xvsreaper (Derek) Sounds like a bunch of troublemakers to me. Better warn the Bulladelah Gestapo theres some thunder coming down under. So they can hide behind thier little sofas and leave us the hell alone. Seriously though watch out for Local Police when travelling through Taree and Bulladelah. They are known to be very active. All the best for all those attending and have a safe journey. Will see you all on Saturday.
