Its strictly a comfort thing. I am not afraid to admit I'd prefer trailering a trip from Southern Az to Sturgis Souh Dakota. Saves wear and tear on my butt. Personally I just feel that our bikes are for cruising short distances that entail short hops of not more than two to three hundred miles ,commuting ,and for weekend fun but not ideally suited to long distance touring. I do have full respect for those who do use them that way. I am simply not a member of the Iron butt motorcycle club at this time.
On the other hand if I had plenty of time to take off work and I only wanted to go about 350 miles a day to save my aching butt and enjoy the trip I would have no probs riding all the way ...one up.
