Here you can find out the basics for working on the bike.

To remove the seat (On an America) , remove the passenger seat with a T30 torx (Some bikes may have an 8mm hex bolt) and slip it forward and off the front bolt. That bolt is a 12mm and holds the front seat on.
On the Speedmaster, remove the rearmost allen bolt, pull on the little ring at the bottom/midpoint of the seat, near the ignition and the entire seat pops forward and off.

After that, you can remove the tank: remove the 12mm hex bolt that the seat uncovered, remove and unplug the console (3 screws), turn off the gas, prepare to capture the fuel in the fuel line, then disconnect the fuel line and slide it back a couple inches. Watch out for the vent hose under the tank to the right of the frame!! That needs to be disconnected before you can completely remove the tank. You may also want to put down a rag or towell under the back of the tank to prevent scratching as you slide it around.

Don't squish your oil filter with a bike jack!!! (How do I know this?)

To lock your forks , turn the bars to the left while pushing in on the lock.

To remove the front fender , you can do two things. Remove the 4 mounting bolts (12mm I think) that bolt into the FORK, or remove the 4 bolts that hold the fender to the fender frame.

The speedo cable is held on by one phillips head screw down at the wheel, and a thumb tight fitting at the speedo itself. Be careful putting it back on, because the end fitting is plastic and can crack (how do I know this?), and you have to make sure the inner cable fits in the slot in the wheel fitting.

Side covers. The right side cover is only held in with tabs. Just pull. The left one is harder to get to. You have to remove the fake air cleaner to get to it. The left side covers and faux air cleaners have either a T30 or a 5mm allen head bolt holding them on.
