I did actually go back to hunt for the guy but he must've heard me coming because he was nowhere to be found. Probably better that way. I don't want to go back to jail.
I had about a quarter of a second to decide whether to take him out or go down. The safest thing for me was to lay it down. There was potential for a helluva lot of pain for both of us if i'd have hit him. There was nowhere else to go except through him or into a ditch or telephone pole. Not much of a choice to be made at the time. In a straight line i may have nailed him because there was oncoming traffic, but in the midst of a turn i didn't feel it was an option.
The damage was (amazingly!) very minimal. I am thankful for that. The muffler is the only immediately obvious damage and it's just not that big of a deal. The bars will be fine. I had on my work uniform pants, so no loss there. My bike has a little more character now and i have another close call under my belt. Hopefully that's the last time for a long time!
