Hi all,
Probably a couple of questions here,
Looking at fitting a set of Kuryakyn Switchblade Footpegs for the front and Large ISO Pegs for the passenger on my 2008 speedmaster and was wanting to know what the feedback on these is. I have heard they are prone to spinning.
The Second thing is around style, if if the pegs will fit in with where I am heading with the bike, or if anyone has a better idea. In the process of:
1 - fitting a set of T-bars, (8"high, 8" pull back) 2 - having the front forks powder coated black 3 - probably changing bike colour from black to a sky blue as its looking a bit scruffy
Cheers

Yeah they do spin a bit if fitted as supplied but if you dremel some shallow grooves into them this stops it.
As to whether they fit in - its all down to choice/ taste & yours is the only one that matters.

I have an 09 America with the Kuryakyn Switchblade Footpegs and they are great. One of the first things I put on my bike. I don't know what you mean by spinning, but mine don't do anything they're not supposed to do. They are comfortable and so nice to be able to flip out of the way if necessary. I'd highly suggest them. I even put them on myself.

Cheers Nobby, Missannies.
Will give them a dremeling.
Quite right on the taste aspect, just struggling to picture how they will look.
So if anyone has any pics of them or other ones on their bike then would love to see a pic

I had 'em for a while but finally went back to stock after I found the heel peg pointing straight down one too many times (i.e., a great big metal spike right where I'd be trying to learn).
When they work properly they're pretty cool, but be sure to do something to keep them from spinning out of place!!

I have them on my bike. You have to get them on real tight or they will spin if you put a lot of weight on the heel rest. Some other guys I talked to used locktight but I didn't go that route. They give you a few options for positioning your feet which is great for long rides. You can flip them out and in while you're riding.

I'll chime in. The key on these is snugging them down good (as mentioned above) as the little edges on the adapter are thin I they crush a bit to set themselves into the inside of the peg because they kind of squash out.
I do NOT recommend this for obvious reasons but I was testing them to find out how well they would perform. I have taken them off and put them on twice now but I really cinched them down when I was happy with the angle.
Now I weigh 185 and I have purposefully and carefully put a lot of weight on the heel rest to test them to see if I could make them spin and have not had them spin, or even move a little after I got them where I wanted them. When I was putting the first one on I tightened it down then stepped on it if it moved I loosened it up and put it back then tightened it down some more until it would not move and they have been fine o 6,000 miles of touring.

Got the pegs on and they look the bomb, those small changes really make the bike look less scruffy.
Obviously not rocket science as it only takes 10 minutes - - - but there is a bit of a trick for young players -
Don't put them on in the Dark as you will not notice the small ball bearing in the original passenger pegs that hold them up when not in use (cheers for getting back to me on that one Eddie).
I dropped one right where I was working and it took me 30 minutes to find it, they are that small, so make sure you get the wife's best pot underneath to catch anything when you take em off.
Also have a couple of spare retaining rings on hand as 2 of mine were really brittle and broke (could be the difference between going for a ride and waiting for the hardware store to open.

Pics please. I've been considering getting these. I had the swingwings and they did not work for me. They did work well for my friend though.

Hi Brent,
Will get some up in the next couple of days. Got the handlebars off at the mo so can't push the bike into the centre.
Got a set of the same type handlebar grips so will get a picture of the lot.

Hi Brent, The photo's don't really do it justice, will need to wait until I have done all my mods and can give it a clean and get some pics outside. As you can see the handlebars are in mid fitment Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Well I have had these on for a while and I love them and I think they look great on the bike and would pick these again.
I have had NO problems with them spinning as others have reported and I am 5"11 & 90kg, but I did give them a massive tighten with a bar on the key. I have managed to scrape the heels of my boots a few times on big round abouts with the heel rests down but that all good fun.
I probably set the angle to sharp though to be in line with the brake pedal. So I would suggest to others while it may look good on a 35 - 40 degree angle you want to have them a lot less than you would expect for a comfort and brake pedal factor.
