Maybe you just got one that wasn't the right mix!
It's good when you need to lubricate your moving parts, clean the internals and probably even inhibits corrosion. Like all good things it can be an acquired taste though.
And you definitely won't like founders porter then, some say its like cold coffee and ciggies, I love that to but I doubt you will find it in a Haymarket pub
