Just got my 11,750 mile 2002 Triumph Bonny America 2 weeks ago and whilst Ive only done 60 odd miles on it so far I'm really loving each and every one. The stock exhausts are a little quiet, and as its my first proper bike, I want some noise!. So I've just bought off Ebay some T.O.R pipes for £65 (they were on a 2006 Speedster before, so I hope they fit!) and wanted to fit them which looks straight forward enough even for a mechanical eejit like myself, but before I do fit them, I need to 100% understand the following if you good people would indulge me, I have read a number of posts and I think I sorta 'get it' but want to be clear as I dont want to blow up or otherwise damage my trumpet for the lack of the right knowledge..
1. Do I have to remove the stock Air Induction thingy? I get lots of popping on the over-run and I dont mind that or having blue pipes for that matter, so should I do it for the TOR fitment?
2. Do I absolutely have to change the 'jets'? the guy who sold me the TOR's said he did'nt on his bike, but from what I've read on here it seems many people do. If so, I understand ( Using Pats calculator) that I would change to a '124' is it just one jet (I assume the haynes manual will explain which one/where it is) or are there any other things need to be changed? on the basis the bike is as stock as it can be.
Apologies if this is boring old ground but any help is most appreciated, many thanks!
Cheers
Simon
