Have purchased some ear plugs from the USA recently. Made from natrual materials and not synthetic. I have tinitis and find that wind noise really sets it off especially on long hauls. These are really good and also waterproof if you want to use in pool. The name of the company is BPI and they have a web site :also reuseable-service was good also. If you have ear probs as I do give them a go-also handy if the neighbors are heavy metal fans. I run aftermarket pipes also but would never have ridden my Harleys with straight pipes years ago if I had known the consequences! Being deaf is no fun

I feel ya. I would have used ear plugs on stage years ago had I known I would be torchered daily by an evil high pitched screeching demon. That would take up residents in my inner ears. I use hear "O's" from the guitar store.

I always wear ear plugs when I ride. I tried riding once without ear plugs, for a day ride up to Mt. Rainier and my ears were ringing for hours afterwards. I wear a full face helmet too. And yes my left ear is about 30% good (according to the Navy when I was honorably discharged). Working in power plants all my life doesn't help either.
The ones I use are a reusable soft rubber (silicon?) type product I picked up at some power station. They just fit easily in my ears, although sometimes the fit is a little off and I enjoy more of the Bubs growling. I wash them with hot soapy water every once in a while. What's nice is they have a lanyard so I can't lose one. I also have a stash of foam ones if needed.

It was our very own Ed (OldRoadie) who convinced me to wear earplugs when riding when he said ("If I don't hear, I don't work.") I have been very glad about that as they make a huge difference in how I feel after a long ride. I lost enough of my higher end hearing in the USAF when I was young and proud.

even with my loud pipes, the wind noise is worse than the exhaust. I wear earplugs if I'm on the highway but not around town

With my windshield and lowers, I can ride wearing a 1/2 helmet with no discomfort in my unprotected ears. Sometimes geezer bikes just make sense!!

The safety supply folks usually sell ear plugs (and glasses) for real world prices. I'd like to save what I have left, (What?) I prefer the lanyard types. They hang on the mirror stalk pretty good. It's a geezer thing... http://www.conney.com/http://www.gemplers.com/safetyAs we know too well, as soon as the word "motorcycle" is added to any product, the price usually triples.

Not to tell anybody what to do-but don't kid yourself. You'll NEVER notice the hearing starting to go till it does, and then it's too late. Just sayin. Professional bass player 30 years-used plugs for 20, and it was 10 years too few. Ringing in the ears STINKS big time-more so when it does not have to happen. My .02, YMMV.

I put in ear plugs on the way to Laconia last year & almost took my buddy out because I couldn't hear him comin up on me. They're on the side of the road somewhere. If I could find something that took out like 10 db instead of 30db I'd try them again. Once.

http://www.harborfreight.com/50-pair-disposable-earplugs-96365.html whats best is that they are wrapped in plastic to keep clean till ready.Carry 2-3 extras in windshield bag for passengers and myself. At this price, cant afford to wash. They not only reduce noise but keep your body warmer(if you have large ears!)
life is good..I am retired..sold my America in 2008,bought a Rocket and sold that in 3/2013 and now own a new Triumph Bonneville T-100

I had a set of molds done a couple of months ago. Cost about $50.00 but it has done a great job on reducing the wind noise. I can still hear what is going on around me and they are really comfortable.

I also have a set (like above) of Etymotic Research ear phones. They work great at isolating between 28-34db of the background noise, and the sound quality is outstanding. They also work great with my full face helmet.

I use these and they are just about the most comfortable that I have found. http://www.safety-source.co.uk/product.asp?strParents=&CAT_ID=5474&P_ID=7901Bit late in my case as 12 years of drag-racing has rendered me 'deaf as a post'

This etymotics cut out about 30 dB? So they are essentially earplugs and headphones yes?? I wear foam ear plugs but would like something nicer and if I can listen to tunes the would be awesome.

I prefer these for the adjustable sound level filtering control. which is an up grade from this model which was far to bulky.

I had a time trying to find decent earplugs that I did not feel like filing a product liability lawsuit against. Walmart, Walgreens, even the local gun shops.....crap materials would either get lost in my ear, or worse, the material would crumble or break when trying to roll it up to insert....scared the crap out of me. It's a wonder these companies can stay in business.... I finally found what I was looking for at Aerostitch. Rider Ear Plugs
