Nope Rob, your bike looks PERFECT!!!!!!!!!

(...except of course as I mentioned earlier about those still chromed instead of blacked-out shock covers ...but other than that...PERFECT!!!!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Did you buy the rim from Buchanan's, or just have them assemble it for you? I called them last week looking for a 16x5.5, and they told me that the only option for a 5.5" rim was an 18" diamater. I like the look of a little more tire!

ROB900: I was reading on an other site about the front brake. It looks like you started with a Speedmaster. Correct?..did it have dual front brakes?...if so, how is the braking with one disk...I understand from the another site the master cylinder has to be matched with the brake caliber,IE, if you go from two disk to one disk you need to change to an America master cylinder, otherwise the front brake can be very touchy.

Mgpaul i had buchanans do it all they do have the same wheel i got in the size 16 5.5 look under rims for excel chrome wheels. Sdkimo i do have a speedmaster its hard to see but i still have dual discs i found a thunderbird sport hub and had it laced to a 21 wheel. About the master cylinder i dont know if thats the case i woudnt think it would make much differance.

What they were saying on the other site is the brake lever displaces "two calibers" worth of fluid vs one caliber worth of fluid. That difference makes the brakes feel all most "on/off" vs a gradual feed of the brake. Maybe it is more important for sportbikes... I know my sportbike had a gradual feed which I really miss on my bike...Where did you find the Thunderbird Sport Hub...been looking for one for a long time.

I got the hub from pinnwall cycles. They are hard to find but if you keep searching the net you will find one sooner or later.

I bought the smaller BA master cyl when I did my Speedmaster conversion to single caliper. However, I kept the larger (9/16") cyl and it actually eliminated the spongy feel that our bikes are known for and gave me an excellent front brake without the "on/off", or very hard and immediate feel that I expected, having been down this road before.

Thanks for pointing me to the right spot on Buchanan's Website. I must have been talking to someone with them who didn't know all of the available products. Now, I see that they also offer a 16x6 chrome plated steel rim. Is 6" to wide? I don't want to go with wider than a 200 tire, but the steel wheel is quite a bit cheaper ($194 vs $356) than the aluminum if it would work.
