This week, probably tomorrow or Friday, I'm finally pulling the trigger and ordering my new saddlebags & easy brackets. I know exactly which ones I'm getting, but the only problem is whether or not to get 'em studded. Unstudded or Studded Note...if I do go with the studded I'm not getting conchos on the bags. I figure if I get studded bags, I can then get a studded saddle. Below is a pic of my bike for reference. So, what do y'all think? There's also a windshield on it too.

I was about to say studed...then I looked at the photos...wow thats alot of studs! Go without studs then just trim the lid lip with studs IMHO...

Personally I hate the studded look on anything. I think it looks tacky and way to busy. But then that is my taste and opinion. Feel free to do whatever you want Mark, I wont be able to see if from my house

Yeah...they did seem a bit too much. I have a friend who is into leatherworking, so I can always have him add some later if I should choose to.

I like spikes and studs if they are done right. It seems to me that most companies seem to go completely overboard on them. Like you said, go with the plain ones and add studs to them how you want. They really are not difficult at all to do either.

I'd say get it plain, then put them on the bike. See how you like it, then decide if you want the Corbin studs. (I know some people have them in their gallery, Stern12 I think...), then have your buddy sdut them up just how you want them and be happy with them!

Mark, this won't help, but, I like them both. BTW we've got to hook up and ride when the weather gets better. When we stop for a break, I can tell you about the 10 years I spent on the road with Johnny Winter (1984-94). Also, What pipes are those? Charlie

Went thru the same decision, no studs..... don't like the look of bags on a bike anyway, why draw attention to it... Just my thoughts. Good luck, let us know what you do....

Benny...no problem. Charlie...count me in. The pipes are Triumph off road shorties. They were on the bike when I bought it. I like 'em, but I've never heard any other pipe on a Triumph...hopefully that'll change when I start to ride with some of the guys from the area on the forum.

Those don't look like TOS to me they are shorter than mine and I've not seen them with a turn out end and I don't see the shroud like mine. Did you buy the bike used or did your dealer install em. I like em though. ModelMaker

I bought the bike used with the pipes already installed. I just assumed they were the off-road shorties. The guy I bought it from has the receipts for all the add-ons. I'll hafta find them and see if there is a receipt for the pipes.

If you really want em you can put studs into a plain bag later, but you can't pull the out of a studded bag without leaving holes. And yeah, the studded one looks like someone went nuts with a rivet gun Matt

Ordered unstudded yesterday. They have to make them, so they should arrive in about 2 weeks.
Also, I checked on the pipes...turns out that they're Bubs. They must be discontinued, because I can't find anything on them on their website. I really like them though...love the looks and they sound pretty good as well.

great bags. i have them on my bike. glad you went studless. i almost wish i had gone with the braided bags, but very happy with the clean classic lines of the bags.
get yourself some acorn nuts for the inside and cover up those bolt ends. one or two knuckle scrapes were enough for me.
best of luck to you.

Thanks Mert...I'll get some acorn nuts as soon as the bags come and I can size 'em up correctly. Hopefully now, I'll be able to take a weekend trip and not put some stuff on my dad's bike. But again...thats what Road Kings are for...to carry OUR stuff.

Studs are cool, but catch dirt, crud and grime. If you are willing to clean them regularly, go ahead. I am 52 years old and ever concho, stud I've ever had was a nightmare to keep clean and they ALL rusted. If you can get a "stainless steel" guarantee, go for it. Then check the Stainles Steel witha magnet - if it sticks - send 'em back.

Yeah, I ordered plain, and if I want, I can have my friend who does leatherworking add stainless studs later if I so desire.

Well.... it looks like studs aren't favored, but I'll post this PIC so you can get an idea of how they look on the bike. I bought mine used from a Texas biker's PO'ed ol' lady, who sold them to me (on Ebay) for $40 !!! Kinda hard to turn down!!!
