the wife and I went away for 1 day to visit her father and when we returned there were 12 kids in my garage, working on an S10 truck.
A neighbor of mine was your classic "gear head" kid. Always in the garage on summer evenings with a bunch of his gear head buddies, tweaking, rebuilding, replacing around on something. I was fortunately in a position (with others) to offer him a scholarship, which he is using in part to attend diesel mechanics' school in Billings. You never had to worry about what he was up to. He almost talked me into some of those undercarriage blue running light for the GMC. I also was known to walk over and borrow a tool or two from HIM. I always returned it promptly. Of course everything changed one night when girls appeared at the garage hanging out with the gear head boys. Who needs "American Graffiti" when you can walk down the street a block and see it live!! I wouldn't worry too much about your own boy.
