Totally preventable before the stupid driver did the stupid move. You are going slow with a car trapped in the middle of your group what do you do? You slow, pull far right and wave him by. That way you recover your group and let the car go.
Don't misunderstand, the car is at fault. I would like to see how long he was trapped in the middle of a slow group.

Agree, but my guess is he had already pulled that stunt at least once to get into the middle of the group. He just happeened to pick the right bunch, if he picked the wrong bunch a 45 cal would have fixed his issue.

If I could still walk after this A- hole did this, I'd call a wrecker for my bike and drive his car home and at least until my bike was fixed, and he'd better keep up the insurance while I meticulously repair my bike. Sounds fair doesn't it. The world would certainly be a safer place with this person walking for a while

Well, I agreed with ya Ron, UNTIL I read that first sentence in your second paragraph....because...there NEVER EVER is a "good excuse" to pass somebody in a blind curve...NEVER!!! Let me repeat that one more time here...NEVER!!!
And, I don't care HOW LONG somebody has been stuck behind some yo-yo who hasn't got a friggin' clue how to ride or drive at speed through the twisties because they're either a lousy friggin' riders/drivers OR they're just plain "scared" of the twisties.
You see, every once in a while I too get struck behind some riders/drivers on White Spar or some other "fun" mountain road around here while I'm on one of my bikes or in my Spyder, and who looks like they haven't got a friggin' clue how to negotiate curvy roads and for some reason won't PULL THE ****** OVER to the right or use a turnout so I can pass their slow movin' butts. BUT, I NEVER, EVER would pass these people in a situation like THAT moron in the car did in this video!
And thus, unless I misread that particular sentence of yours somehow(which I admit is possible)...NOW do you kinda sorta understand why that moron in that car is at fault?!)

Okay, there's an addendum to the above: Right after I purchased the Sprint, back in '95, Judie and I hopped on it and rode up through the mountains up north of Ojai California and through central CA. And, while on this road we got stuck behind some large piece of farm equipment goin' REALLY slow for what seemed like mile after mile. And yes, I admit that I got frustrated bein' stuck behind it, and I admit I passed it on a blind curve. And, while I was doin' that, Julie was smackin' me on my back and screamin' at me somethin' like, "WHAT THE **** ARE YOU DOING????" BUT, extremely lucky for her and me, nobody was comin' the opposite way. Yep, I got away with it. AND, that taught me a lesson, because I immediately realized how lucky I was that I didn't kill the both of us that day! (...or totaled my brand new Triumph Sprint...which would have REALLY p*ssed me off!)

I think Ron's point (excuse me here Ron whilst I butt in ) is that the car driver was definitely at fault. However, the slow riders don't get a moron pass since they should have pulled over to let him by.

Yeah, you're probably right, Bill. Like I said, I could have just misread that particular statement of Ron's whilst I was readin' it!

I would say there are times that it is really not possible to pull over to let traffic pass.
Why endanger yourself if the nearside verge of the road has broken tarmac/potholes/debris/wet leaves/raised ironworks, just so that someone can cut a few seconds off their journey time.
Also the camber of the road may not let you take a nearside road position either.
In anycase the guy needs banging up in jail for a long time and a lifetime driving ban.
Could the guy filming in the car behind, if he was filming the guy driving for some home movie ego boost, be brought to account as an accomplice for dangerous driving?
Just a thought.
Before the war on terror, if I saw an unattended package I used to think "I'll be having that!"

Hmmmm...ya know Graham, whilst...err....WHILE I was readin' this supposition of yours, I thought MAYBE that THAT was IT! You might've just hit on it!!!
(...uh huh...yep...MAYBE this was just one of those moronic videos specifically done for that moronic series of movies known as "Jackass", that for some strange reason many of the kids out there today find sooooo friggin' "entertaining"!!!)

I'm just going to have to add this expression to the censor filter. I know it will make life a little difficult but we'll adjust:

Dwight,I wasn't specifically thinking of it being a set up gag, just more that the guy was purposely filming the driver "taking his car to the max" for youtube or something of the like.
Would that guy nomally drive at that level without being filmed or was the buzz of being filmed a catalyst for dangerous driving?
In which case I'd say the cameraman really has something to answer for if thats the case.
I must have had a Sherlock Holmes moment.

Yeah, I know, Graham. I was just usin' your idea to take a shot at those "Jackass" flicks. Actually, after viewing this video again, I'm not gettin' the idea that there was any connection between the two cagers. But yeah, if they were and if your guess if correct about those particular circumstances, then I suppose there MIGHT be a case made for some portion of liability to be placed upon "camera car's" occupants. (...though, I think even that is a bit of a stretch)

Sorry, but most of your text read like you were assigning some of the "blame" on the motorcyclist for not yielding...which actually MIGHT be SOMEWHAT valid IF that turned out to be the case. But then, like I said, I wasn't sure what your meaning was with just that one particular line of yours, "Don't misunderstand, the car is at fault.", right in the middle of the rest of your text.

I think the STATE is also to blame here. Couldnt they have made that road straighter, wider, and even put a motorcycle lane in. Come on guys REALY! Dont you think that if YOU take an action YOU are to blame if it goes wrong. Pier pressure, video cameras, youtube, the idiots who made that stupid movie are not to blame. The DRIVER is a SH!THEAD end of story.

Yep..."and should be immediately beaten within an inch of his life", right Chad?
Well, I agree that the dude's a "SH!THEAD" and bears ALL the responsibility for his action. However, I'll bet EVEN in "God's Country", most Texas District Attorneys might "frown upon" the idea of administering a little "street justice" in situations of vehicular collisions....NO MATTER how moronic the actions were of the person responsible for said collision.
(...yep, even IN "God's Country", I'll betcha!!!

Ya see, the thing is... it's quite possible this guy feels remorse for his lack in sound judgment. If the cager has any conscience at all he's gonna feel bad... REAL bad for a long, long time because he knew he fugged up... BIG TIME. It's nature's way of self learning. Now, I think it's safe to say that just about all of us have done something real stupid... case in point, Dwight's story about riding the Sprint. Sometimes we get away with it, sometimes we don't. This guy didn't get away with it.
I'm not suggesting the guy should be set free of any and all consequence... but I am saying it's highly likely the consequence factor set right at the moment of the accident. I remember when my brother once hit a pedestrian (who wasn't hurt too bad) and he was real messed up for a long time after that, even though it wasn't his fault.
A knee jerk reaction is to want to kill the guy. At times like that it bears prudence to remain calm and attend to the most vulnerable (victims)... then let society deal with the driver as it may. Hopefully... HOPEFULLY he wasn't drunk!
Live to love, love to live.
