That one letter turns it into a 2 syllable word.
syllable: noun
1. an uninterrupted segment of speech consisting of a center of relatively great sonority with or without one or more accompanying sounds of relatively less sonority: “Man,” “eye,” "humor," “strength,” and “sixths” are English words of one syllable. "Humour" is a two syllable word. [hume' our]

How is that for some Dwightish.

Years ago I dumped my bike (Suzuki) at an intersection due to a car loosing all its oil. Even after I picked the bike back up I couldn't ride it initially, due to the back tire spinning like I was riding on ice. It took at least 10 miles to get the oil off the tires. Lucky for me when I hit the oil I was only doing 5MPH, and no one was in front or behind me.

So next time figure out another way to release your blood pressure.

I would be wondering if it really was the culprit car that had the sump plug loosened or maybe it was just some unlucky sod who happened to have the same model and color car - how bad would you feel?

do you realy think its possible to reach under a "small car" with only a few inches of ground clearance and use the crappy pliers that come with a multi-tool to loosen a bolt.

No, I don't. But the original post sure created a stir. Doubt the story is for real. Somebody's sitting back having a chuckle right now.

Anyway seems to me there was a wrongful death suit filed a couple years ago against a car owner who dumped oil on the road and a motorcyclist wrecked because of the oil patch and got killed...

That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did out pour
Nothing farther then he uttered- not a feather then he fluttered -
Till I scarcely more than muttered, "Other friends have flown before - On the morrow he will leave me, as my Hopes have flown before."
Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."

Well Dan. I can’t believe you’re so stupid and gutless. Why didn’t you go to the house the car was parked outside and speak to the driver. As for loosening the plug. Well that’s plain dumb.

I'm beginning to wonder if Dan's in the troll category. He hasn't responded once since starting this thread. I suspect others were correct in stating he's having a good laugh at all this.

That motley drama - oh, be sure it shall not be forgot!
With its Phantom chased for evermore by a crowd that siezed it not.
Through a circle that ever returneth in to the same spot,
and much of Madness, and more of sin,and horror the soul of the plot.

Okay, okay Chad! I HAVE to ask...WHO just gave you the book, "The Collected Works of Edgar Allan Poe"...HUH?!

I mean, at last count I think this is now THREE quotes of his that you've used around here lately.

(...oh, and btw, you didn't even give the poor troubled man his due by crediting these lines to him in any of your postings, ya know?!)

I have had it for a while. I just started reading it again, and they seemed to fit. So I was having some fun . I wanted to see who would know. Guess what you win the prize . So have a drink on me .
Do know his works or did the Raven give it away?
I have always been a fan of his work . Did a report on his life in middle school for history class, and used the same one for literature class that same year.

Everybody knows literary giant Mr. Haney wrote "The Raven."

As long as we're getting our facts squared away :

"Merchant of Venice?"

Penned by Ice T

The original opening sentence:
"Yo Antonio, check dat boooty homes"

Its funny to me How he gets written off as a useless dope head but more contemperary Dope heads are great; John Lennon, Ozzy Ozborne, Kirt Cobain, Britany Spears, Micheal Jackson, Elvis ...............and the list goes on.

Another one of my favorite Hemmingway was a sevier alcoholic, Van Gogh cut his ear off for the love of a prostitute.

Some of the guys, eh Loco? And let me guess. By 'some of those guys' you'd be referring to... oh, I don't know... ME?!? And by 'thoae with whom they disagree' you possibly mean, you?!? Cause if you are inferring that I personally have been 'coming down hard' on you then I'm gonna have to come down there and beat you up (you might want to pick up a cheap helmet before I get there) 'cause I hate being accused of 'coming down hard' when in fact all I've done is 'pounce' once or thrice!
