Only one of two cars (the rest are/were trucks) I ever owned was a '69' Lincoln Continental similar to the one below, mine was forest green with light green pin stripes that thing would float down the highway!!
About 4 years ago a guy p!ssed me off with one of those. He brought it over and wanted me to pull the engine and trans for another car. He wanted to junk the Mark III and fix a 78 Town Car! I would have kept the Mark III. He never paid me and never picked up the engine and trans. I have the 460 and tranny and the 9" rear out of it in my yard now. The 460 was 390HP if I remember right. The car only had 37,000 original miles on it and ran perfect, blue with white interior.

That Inter-smashable (as we used to call them) looks to be in very good condition there, Dave!

it has some lumps and bruises, and it needs a few things, but I think I'm gonna get it

Those old Cornbinders are built like a tank, and get about the same mileage.
I know where you can get a Lincoln 460 and trans to stick in it

I actually have the correct engine for that IH, think I sold that tranny. I also have the big IH it is over 390ci but forget exactly what size it is as well as a 304. Those old IH V8s time off of #8 cyl.

If I can get around 17 mpg on this one it won't be much different than my Dakota. Only it will have a ton more space for my tools, and it has back seats.

66 or 68 Fury II with the 318 69 Newport Custom with the 383 68 Chevelle SS, black with white stripes
All were pretty well critter-bit when I got to 'em, but good cars.
The Mopars were good solid reliable stock. The Newport had a back seat that my two (then) little kids could comfortable sleep on, back before seat belt laws were the order of the day. The Chevelle tried to run the RR tracks late one night. It didn't work out for it too well. (It would have been a significant short cut, but...) It donated it's frame for my Wisconsin powered buck saw / wood splitter, in reference to the Saudis and their mitts on the big oil valve back in the 70s.

Yeah, and that nice big back seat of my Pop's '69 Chrysler Newport would also come in quite handy whenever he'd let me borrow his car on a Friday or Saturday night and I'd pick up my girlfriend Valerie and we'd head to the the Vermont Drive-In Theater!
(...but, of course, it wasn't used to catch 40 winks, if ya know what I mean!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
