I originally wanted to get there thursday evening, but i'm working late that day and will have to ride out friday morning with Sean. Hoping to be there around noonish friday.

Brett, I'm hoping to leave Carol Stream, IL by 8 am. If you want I can get you directions here, or we could meet up along the way, whatever works best for you. Only problem I see is that may put you in chicago right in the middle of rush hour, unless you come real early. Either way, let me know, i'm sure we can work something out.

Anyone else who wants to ride out is welcome to join us also.

what time does the ride start out on friday?

I cannot get there on thursday night, but would be able to get in on friday morning (only 2 1/2 -3 hour ride). either that or catch up with the ride group along the way, if the route is already set.

I'm not going to be able to get there thursday night either. Friday, I would like to leave East Dubuque around 3pm, we will head south eventually finding our way to Mississippi Palisades State Park. From there we will cross the River into Iowa and head north and stop at the Offshore bar and grill in Bellevue for dinner. http://www.offshorebellevueia.com/
From there we will head on back to the hotel for the "deck party". Hope to see you there!

My plans of making it on thursday, or for that matter at all, have might just be screwed. If the "lawmakers" in St.Paul can't get there crap together I'll be unemployed on July 1. If things don't improve I'll have to bail out this year, damn it!! I hope things change soon, it could mean 35,000 + unemployed because of party politics with no regard for the people on Mn.
Wish us well, and I hope to see you on the 23rd, And I'll go to lunch with you!

Ann Marie, that sounds like a great idea! I wish I could make it thursday but not gonna happen.

Jim, I sure hope it works out for you. Not just for the rally, but for you personally. Let me know when politicians start caring about the people who elect them, probably be a real cold day.

My computer got nailed with a virus/trojan and i've lost all my information.
We've been very busy at work so i'm not sure when i'll get off on friday. I'll start doing some evening rides this week to check for any roads we want to avoid. There's still a lot of damaged roads from l;ast July's flood.

Reservation is set at offshore bar and grill for Friday 6pm. If the weather is nice they will give us a spot outside.

For saturday's ride, we will have breakfast at Breitbach's again in Balltown, but dinner is TBD. If nothing comes up we can stop at Potosi Brewery again. If anyone has any ideas that would be great.

Still putting my computer back to a semblence of working condition. Unfortunately it's not something i can fix with a big hammer or explosives.

I would suggest the Brewster House Resturaunt in Schullsburg WI. www.schullsburgcreamery.com
I ate there last year, they have very good pie,

Potosi Brewery was ok. I'll check if the Galena Brewery serves food, and see if anybody i know has eaten there.

A note of caution:
The cops in Dubuque have written well over 200 citations for loud pipes this year already. They don't even ask to hear them, they just look at them and write the ticket because the pipes are not stock. I hope none of you guys have loud pipes LOL.

Accorrding to this only 25 of those are for bikes. See news video
http://www.kwwl.com/story/14900202/revving-the-question-how-loud-is-too-loud

DUBUQUE (KWWL) - Two recent letters to the editor published in the Dubuque Telegraph Herald have revved the question of noise violations, specifically in regards to motorcycles.

At Dubuque's Harley-Davidson dealership, new motorcycles come in all kinds of colors, sizes and models, but they all share a decibel emission level, service manager Jeremy Murphy said.

"EPA requirements are 80 decibels, as far as stock systems go," Murphy said.

He said many of his customers believe in the saying, "Loud pipes save lives."

"It's not like they need to be so much louder that you get that crazy loudness out there, but a lot of people just like the understanding, the knowing that their bike can be heard," Murphy said. "They don't have to be seen to know that a bike is in a blind spot."

Not everyone agrees that loud pipes mean safe driving.

David Klavitter is a longtime motorcyclist.

"I bought a Yamaha when I turned 18 and I still have it, I still ride it," Klavitter said.

He said he doesn't need loud pipes to remain safe.

"I'm a motorcyclist, so I wear a helmet. I wear brightly-colored clothes, I know how to use my horn and I drive defensively," Klavitter said.

Louder pipes, he said, violate the law and his right to a quiet neighborhood.

"Everyone should be sensitive and respectful of everyone's right to quiet enjoyment. Beyond that, law enforcement agencies have an obligation to fairly and consistently enforce all noise, as it applies to any device."

Dubuque police spokesperson Lt. Scott Baxter said the Department has stepped up enforcement of general noise violations since last summer, due to an increase in the number of citizen complaints.

So far this year, Baxter said, the Department has issued 204 muffler, exhaust and loud music citations. 25 of those went to motorcyclists.

"There's a lot of things that the biking community does that's great for the community, as far as raising money for the MDA runs, various benefits," Murphy said. "You know, those people that get out at night and they got the extremely obnoxious exhaust, it just gives a bad name to a lot of bikers out there."

Both Klavitter and Baxter said, the law is the law.

No problem, we just won't spend any time in Dubuque. I think at the most we may pass through it once on friday evening on the way back to the hotel, other than that I don't see us riding around there a lot. Besides, I don't think any of us have really "obnoxious" exhaust.

Gary, either of those places sound good. Is one more convenient than the other as far as somewhere to stop for a late lunch during the saturday ride?

Schullsburg is a little farther away, 30? miles. But less likely to be the zoo that Galena can be on a saturday. Galena brewery would be about 15 miles from the hotel,
We can adjust the route to acommedate either place.

Well gang, I won't be making this year. No budget in sight, they're telling us to be prepared for a 2 month layoff because compromise is now considered a dirty word.(thanks tea party, may you rot in hell)
So on that note have fun, drink some beer for me, be safe!
See you next year I hope!

Despite my best planning I can't make it to the rally this year. I have tried to re-arrange the schedule right up to the last minute here. Thanks for the invite Scott to ride over with you guys, but I am going to have to hope for next year. I'm already bummed I can't make it. Don't have too much fun without me

It's up to the group of where to go friday for lunch ride. Guess we'll talk about Thrusday nite on the deck. We can go to Poopy's in Savanah again or go to New Glarus WI. Try to leave Timmerman's bewteen 9-9:30am and be back around 3 to catch up with the those that get in on Friday.

Sorry you guys can't make it, hope it works out for next year.

I was hoping to start the friday afternoon ride around 3-4:00, ride south towards savanna, stop at palisades state park, then on over to the iowa side and up the river to bellevue to dinner at 6:00.
I didn't even think about new glarus

Eddy,Diane and I left the house at 8'ish this morning.Got dumped on as we were going south around Chicago,we took 80 then went north to Rockford to pick up 20 across to East Debuqe. It quit raining as we turned north so we dried out time we got here to Timmermans.I've already shined the bike and took a ride over to the local Triumph shop,so I thought I get on here as no ones showed up yet to jaw with.

Looks like the group is going to leave around 9:30 or so, and head down to poopies for breakfast, via the best backroads. Then be back at the hotel around 1pm or so to meet up with the later arrivals and head out for the dinner ride. unfortunately i have to work all day tomorrow so i'll be missing the breakfast ride.

I'm sorry I had to miss the rally this year. I hope the weather cooperated and you guys had a great time. I hope to see you there next year.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Rolled into home base at 4 pm EST. 8 1/2 hours actual saddle time and NO rain, not even a drop. Stopped in Rockford, Il for Breakfast with Jack & Diane, back on the road and Jack & Di headed east on I-80. Clear sailing I-39 to Bloomington-Normal(Not so normal right Catlady) then picked up I74 east. Had a great time at my first Mid-West Rally, Gary did a great job leading the pack found some great roads and a few oddities, saw Pink Elephants & Metal Dinosaurs and I wasn't even drinking. It was great making new friends from this site and seeing old friends from other rallies. Hope to see everyone next year or maybe another rally or event. Anyone in the INDY area send me an email and I'll show you parts of Indiana without corn fields.
keep the rubber side down. Thanks again for a great time and great memories.
