Thought this might be of interest to those who might like a center stand but without spending the $275 for the after-market version. I bought a Triumph Sprint stand on ebay for $24, a spring, some welding etc, probably no more than $50 for the whole deal.

I ground off the kick plate (hit the exhaust)and spring retainer. The stand was a too tall for me - rear wheel almost 3" off the ground but that be fine for some, so I cut it down about an inch and welded new plates on the bottom of the legs. Took a little trial and error with the spring distance and where to secure it, but seem to have ended up with a working position. Right now the top of the spring is attached to a 60 lb pull rate magnet with an eye, but when I like where it is I'll weld a U to the bottom of the arm and secure it that way. Some grinding was needed on the top of the stand to make it fit properly, but all in all and fun little project.
