I need help identifying a broken part. It is between the carbs ('04 Speedmaster), a small wire leads to it and it has a rubber cover that fits over something (like a nut)leading in to the motor. There is a small spring and a very small washer inside of the plastic piece that goes over a skinny plastic nipple on the motor side. Back-story. I just returned from an overseas deployment and had to bring my bike in for a fuel leak between the carbs and the motor. They also shimmed my valves. That was 6 weeks ago and they just called me today to tell me it was done. Needless to say, I was not happy with the 6 week turn-around, especially when they kept telling me that it would be done in a couple of days (several times). I just got back from picking it up and pulled it off of the trailer and found this part broken off. The Triumph dealer is "Southeastern Steel Choppers" in Jacksonville, NC. I would not recommend this place to anyone and I am trying to spread the word. Can anyone tell me what this part is?
Thanks.

Does your oil pressure light still light up before you start it and go out after it starts? Sounds like the oil pressure sending unit.

I am not sure. It is too late to start it. Don't want to wake the kids. I will sure start it first thing in the morning though. Thanks for the reply. I did start it to ride it up the trailer and I am sure that I would have noticed the oil light on, but it was pretty cold and windy and I was trying to get back in the vehicle.

Oil pressure sending unit isn't between the carbs. Sounds like some of that AI crap, but I'm not sure since it's not on my bike to look at.

It's not the throttle position sensor wires is it? Go to the following site and there is a good pic of the sensor wires: http://www.dinqua.com/Triumph/carbs4.html

Click here and look at part #18 The cover comes off and you should be able to attach back onto it.

if it is broken its easy to replace.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

pull the black cover off and have a look at what kind of connector it uses. You may just be able to put on a new connector and be done with it.

Man, you guys are good. I knew I would get help from this site quickly. My oil pressure light isn't coming on at all. Update - The owner of the Triumph dealer personally drove by and picked up my bike today (Sunday) to bring it back to the shop to fix it. I guess he heard about my displeasure and wanted to fix it. Although I am still not happy with what happened, he went above and beyond what I expect from a dealer, let alone an owner to fix the issue.

Thanks for your service Casey. It sounds like your dealer is making it right and that's a good thing! Way back when, I had an auto dealer (a Rambler dealer OK ) bring his personal car to my home to use while he returned in my Hornet to fix a recurring problem. I think every employee in the shop found out what the boss had done and since nobody wanted to be the cause of that happening again, I always got great service from that point on. Maybe this is a good omen for you!

The low oil pressure sending unit is what I was talking about in my first post.
