Whoa no side car I didn't ever think I would see that. Have you seen those off road trials of those with the side car. that sidecar drive wheel is insane.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

So, that's what the Russians consider a sport tourer (ST)?

Nope, that's what they consider a solo.

Good looking bike... specs are good too and the price at $7000 ain't bad either. Apparently they're built like a tank.
Live to love, love to live.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

2008 Speedy, AI removed, DIY airbox destruction with K&N filters, spectres, re-jetted and "custom" rattle can paint job.

You say that like it's a bad thing. Having grown up on "old" trumpets, I just learned to think of it as "freshing up the oil"! It's all a state of mind.

Couple of thoughts:
1) Buddy of mine runs a Ural dealership, and took their mechanics training. Says they've come a LONG way in the past 2-3 years in terms of reliability (e.g., alternator is now out of a Honda car). I'd be curious to hear reports on late-model Urals and how well they stand up, but he says they're much, much more reliable than the ones made just a few (4-5) years ago.
2) As I dropped my Speedy off at his shop, he gave me a lift to the Metro in a Ural Gear-Up -- HOLY S**T that thing is FUN! I watched him trying to drive the thing, and it's clear that it very much does NOT handle like a normal bike, but it's quite capable in city traffic, and it's just a helluva lot of fun to ride in the hack! (I told my wife she needed to try it sometime.)
