Use the jetting calculator to get close then best thing to do is finish on a dyno once you have it close. There is a kind gentleman who offers the jetting and shim calculators to help us free of charge as well as keeping a very helpful website up for those who need help. Pat's site

I have the off road pipes. Bikes never been rejetted, seems to be fine. I have understood that the Triumph off road pipes don't need rejetting.

I disagree since they came lean from the factory and the TORs are less restrictive a rejet is prudent.

Why not take off the snorkel and slip in a UNI Filter then change your mains to 130's. You'll notice the difference.

Now yer talking... but even just with the TORs I'll side with Ian and suggest a rejet is in order.

Its not hard to rejet it just takes a bit of trial and error. If you have the right tools you don't even have to pull the carbs. Most folks worry about this being difficult, but as Ian said go to Pats site and that will get you headed in the right direction, besides you may find its fun. Warning: modifying you bike could become addictive

Welcome to the site, Curt. Here's my 2 cents:
I bought my 05 slightly used with the TOR shorty's already on. They were apparently installed at the dealership and the gentlemen did not know if the dealer rejetted or not. When I changed my pipes and filter and rejetted, found that the bike was never rejetted as the stck 120's were still in. Had ridden around for about 16K miles that way. Don't know of any ill effects but sure it must have been running a little lean as others here have suggested. If you're going to rejet, might as well take care of the intake side (filters, snorkel, etc.) at the same time and do it once like Staffo said.
The local dealer here said rejetting was not necessary for TORS, but I side with Ian on disagreeing with that.

Curt - you got a great deal on the TORS. One can obsess over carb tuning details to a great degree, or simply follow the jetting calculator, call it good, & enjoy the ride. The choice is yours!

I agree totally I used the jetting calculator, and many other sites and info. The jett calculator is really close as you can get with out going insane over it. So I would just go with it and have fun man. Its like sex untill you do, you think you'll never get it.

Go check out the Dyno Results Table thread in the Performance Mods section. Keith (Mountainman) did an experiment with the stock exhaust & mains (120) vs the TORs and larger mains (124) on separater dyno runs. Guess you can't tell how much the jets contributed but interesting anyway. I think the Jet Calculator takes you up to 124's.

I upped my Pilot Jets a size, and have upped mains 3 x's, I think now. The pilots changed the whole tone of the system, I thought, richening it up and fattening up the soundtrack.
I'm pretty sure you can rejet and experiment all you want, but I'm not sure whether or not you get to the point of minimal performance gain for excess fuel economy lost. I'm not quite sure where the lines cross.
I know I could go bigger on mains now. I still have a lag on WOT and though she's accelerating when I crack her open, if I roll off WOT just a hair, she picks up more steam. But I love the way she runs, and it's too much trouble (for me, anyway) to pull the carbs/jets again without a better reason to.
But I have NEVER has a problem with the way she ran in ANY comfiguration. She just makes me happy!

Blackwind you can pull the float bowls off with the carbs on if you have the patience. It is also easier without the stock air box in place.I have rejetted my bike a few times and did it each time without pulling the carbs off. You got to have patience and the right assortment of tools.

Did I read someone say words to the effect "I think some can obsess with carb tuning"? If so they must have been thinking about Stacka It's alright, my psychiatrist said its no big deal just as long as I keep seeing her. Just love it when I lie on that couch, cos when I wake up and find my underpants inside out I know the cost was worthwhile. Sorry. Stacka focus. Right. Serious now. I agree about not having to take off the carbs. In fact I would have either changed a jet or needle or both I reckon close to a dozen times and have never taken the carbs off. Why would you need to create all that extra work. Of course you have to have the stainless hex screws or forget it. Now when's my next psych App't

Nor should you. In 2002 one of the first accessories I put on were TORs. Didn't rejet until the winter of 2002-2003 when I put on K&Ns and relocated my battery. It's not the mufflers, is the intake mods that require rejetting, generally speaking.

My 05 came with TORs on it when I bought it used. The guy that I bought it from said that they were the stock Triumph pipes, so I assumed that everything was alright. So mild bluing on the headers, but it gave the bike character. I finally found out that I had TORs on the bike when I pulled out my rear baffle and realized that what I was pulling out was nothing like what I saw in any bafflectomy procedure I'd seen on this site. Then I noticed the TOR stamp on the bottom of the pipe.
After pulling out the baffles, I rejetted and noticed that the guy who owned the bike before me still had the stock 120s in there. Then I looked at a picture of my bike from when I first bought it and realized tha the bluing had spread over time.
To sum up my rant: Rejet after installing the TORs, otherwise your headers will blue. I think that you should be running 124s if everything else is stock. Oh, and pull out the rear baffle, it'll sound better. A lot more throaty and less like a sewing machine.

I have a 2011 America with EFI so carb rejetting is not an issue, but... if i swap in louder pipes, does anything need to be done to the EFI? i now i can swap he pipes myself but I don't want to mess with the EFI.

You'll definitely need to get a remap done...

TuneEcu is pretty easy to use and there are a ton of free maps on that site. All you need is the the right cable to hook your computer up to the OBDII port. I changed the map on my Rocket III and it was a snap (my Americas are both carbureted).

FriarJohn, Your site's link Newest for 2010!! Jetting Calculator is a dead link. I used your "lookie" calculator and ran some different scenarios; how did the person who did this work come up with the numbers? It is a really neat gizmo!

Yeah, bummer. Just use the web version I made. I'm not sure how Pat came up with the numbers.
EDIT: Turns out I don't have the file for the 2010 version, but the web-based version I have uses those numbers. I'll have to see if I have it stashed away on an archive disc or if Pat can send it to me.
