A very special gift I received this year was a calendar. But not just ANY calendar... a calendar which my son made up of pictures of my granddaughter on every month. WOW!! He's a professional photographer so ALL the pics are GREAT and each month sports an arrangement of several photos. It choked me up when I opened it... it was the biggest and best gift ever!!

Congrats Keith, I look forward to seeing it when I come to visit.
My wife took my BIG hint and bought me a new leather jacket.

Wow Keith I love those personallized gifts like that too man, Brent that is one nice jacket.
Rich I hate to hear you are so down about the holiday I was like that too for a while, Christmas only depressed me.
Sorry for your misfortune there Stevie hope you can find another job soon.
I got the realization that its only a commercialized trap of big buisness if you let it be. I can be about being with loved ones, and enjoying a good time together.

I received good health, the affection and company of friends and family, continued employment/income, vacation through next week, and two bottles of Grand Marnier Centenaire from my wifey to share and enjoy.

Materially? Nothing - just as I've always preferred.

Emotionally? A white (6"+) Christmas with my family in N.C. Best Ever!

Funniest Moment? Watching our Black Lab/Spaniel playing in snow for the first time.

Finally, this year no knick-knacks or crap I don't want or need. Two gift cards and cash. Perfect. And a couple of outstanding meals my from my mother. Mmmm... home cooking.

(Of course, I bought myself some stuff and some things for the bike, a jet black Speedmaster front fender to replace the metallic black one, and a new-in-box set of the original engine crash bars like I used to have.)

I got a phone call from my daughter and 3 yr old granddaughter, laughing at Gpa, doing a Santa impression!! Takes my breath away to hear that laugh.

Some more chrome for my America, from Fast Eddy. Beautiful day with family and not at my house. A+++ for that one.

Anybody doing a New Years' Day ride?

I got a Tom Tom among other things but the Tom Tom has some fun voices I can download like Darth Vader or Yoda or even Bugs bunny. The videos are funny too. I only watched Darth and part of Yoda. Voices

This year I celebrated Christmas with my extended family who's Mom passed last June. She was missed yesterday, as I know your Mom was missed too Dave. Her absence will always be felt.

Huh?! What did I get, you ask?!

Well, I got:

ANOTHER DAY OLDER and DEEPER IN DEBT.
(Saint Peter don't you call me 'cause I can't go...I owe my soul to the company store!)

Okay, I got those AND a 7ft Air Hockey table and a dart board set for the game room.

(...yep, life is sure tough, here in this company town!!!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

What did I get? More like what did I eat!

I smoked a 19lb. turkey over wood fire with hickory, cherry and apple, and I set it up beer can chicken style with a giant Fosters can up inside it to steam as it cooked. It was on there for about 10 hours. It was deliciously smoked and juicy.

I finally gave in & bought myself a 42 in LED TV and a sound bar (TV speakers are tinny). I also upgraded cable to HD with HBO/Starz for 2 years for less than what I am paying now.

I then got the following DVD's from family:
- "Yes-Live at Montreux"
- "Rick Wakeman - The Six Wives if Henry VIII - Live at Hampton Court Palace" (I was hoping to actually attend one of these shows but my schedule did not allow it)
- "Rick Wakeman - Classical Wakeman Vol One - Live in Lugano"

I also was given some fleece sheets, supposed to be as warm or warmer than flannel sheets. We'll see.

Oh yeah, I bought myself one of those cool etched brass battery covers. I'm looking forward to getting it put on in the coming days.

Pigged out on ham and mashed potatoes followed by cinnamon streusel cake. My sister still has a lot of ham left over and she's dumped a bunch on me already.

Happy New Year to all!!

No matter what you "got" or you got yourself. Really, as some have already said here, this time of year is about family (immediate and extended), and friends (because we know many of them can be closer than blood). I'm happy to include this silly little corner of cyberspace in my friends, because so far, my experiences meeting people off of this forum has reaffirmed my faith in people.

I've found that I can laugh and agree and disagree with you folks, all over the world. Our politics and beliefs, tastes in music, or oil choices, can all be different but a common enjoyment of riding these bikes (and those of you have chosed to stray) has really made me a happier and better person, because in reality, we all want the same thing. To be happy, healthy, and to ride our bikes with out getting speeding tickets.

To my cyber ba.com friends, may the new year be as good or better than the last, and if life stumbles, at least you can vent it here.

I don't get sentimental to often, but for some reason I was feeling it tonight.

Have a Happy New Year!

Even though I just started a new Job back in September I was able to get 10 days off (combination of holiday and 2 vac days) and was able to go to FL so my wife could see her parents and my son could play with Gramps and love on Grandma. And I got to fix their surround sound, this pc im on right now, take down decorations, cook, plaster and paint, rearrange the attic, clean the garage........... seriously dont mind at all.

We got a Budgie. It landed outside the house early evening on Christmas Eve. It’s feet must have been a bit cold as it kept falling over, but once it warmed up it was fine. Doing the ebay thing now to get a proper cage for it, or should I say Candy.
Feel sorry for those that lost it – but at least it’s found a good home.

Small compressor
Air ratchet & air impact wrench
Set of cross-beam ratcheting wrenches
Shirt
Cash
Liquor
And an afghan my daughter crocheted by herself (made the missus cry).

Then, as much as I love my kids and Renee's kids, on Christmas day, they were all gone after lunch, leaving Renee and myself alone with a nice quiet dinner, delicious desert, and the above mentioned bottle of liquor. There's something to be said about having the missus, the house, and a bottle of liquor to yourself.

So it turns out I did get some stuff for Christmas. I forgot my dad sent four small boxes with the check he sent to help with the house remodel (so of course, I can't complain, but I will anyway). He has this habit of taking cheap crap he gets from casinos and regifting it to me. So I open these boxes today.

Mini nut-driver set (I didn't check but I'm sure they're standard sockets)
A staple gun (!)
Multi-function calculator, flashlight, tape measure
TWO watches
A tiny digital camera on a key chain
A pen
An address book/memo pad

Come to think of it, the first two probably came with some handyman or woodworking magazine subscription.

Awesome.

I got a 1/6th scale remote controlled Waco Biplane. It has a 60 inch wingspan, receiver, and all servos. Will be putting a .91 four stroke engine on her, and hopefully flying it this summer. It was expertly built from a Pica kit, and is flawless in construction. Will need a radio though, as I sold ALL my RC stuff for Triumph parts...Should be alot of fun....

That sounds like a sweet plane and I can only imagine how much fun it will be to fly. It must be beautiful, as the actual Waco biplanes were (are) great looking birds.
