My 17 year old daughter saved up her babysitting money and bought her very own first truck all on her own (she even gets to be first on the title!). She talked the guy down to $650.00 (he had bought it to fix up for his girlfriend who dumped him right after he rebuilt the motor) and then convinced him to do some of the work that needed done.
She, and I, are proud as could be.

I think it's great when kids buy their own cars rather than being given. Most will respect it more and take care of it. Good for you on raising her right.

Well Tom, that's pretty awesome. She's learned a lot just getting to the point of buying that truck and will no doubt learn heaps from ownership. She's growing up fast and well.

Nice!

Fantastic! What proud parents you must be. Cudos to both you and your wife.

Yup... and today she got a tag and her insurance cards.. and spent another 500 bucks on new tires and an idler pulley. She also bought a new antenna and brake pedal cover (she did pass on some nice fuzzy dice). She knew she was going to put money into whatever she bought to make it her own and so she had saved almost two grand before embarking on this adventure.

"Rome GA"?! The wife and I were there for a friend's wedding about 10 years ago. Beautiful little town!

(btw Thom, nice goin' with the kid...and the truck!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

OMG! Even if the passenger side doesn't look as good as the driver side she got a great deal for $650. You should brag. You gotta right!
