I have been looking for a way to shorten my rear turn signals and seen various posts here on hybrids using alternate pieces. After buying some original signals from a member here, I looked at various ways to cut them down and came up with a very nice solution. My step-father has a metal lathe with some very sharp bits and he was able to cut them down and re-tap/die the end to screw into the bulb housing. He is very meticulous and did a great job. They look "factory" and I love them. Can't wait to get them on the bike. Here is a picture of his work. http://s580.photobucket.com/albums/ss244/pharmboy327/Triuph%20TBA%20Turn%20Signal%20Shortened/

Finally had a chance to get them on the bike and really like the look. I was able to find connectors to replace the ones that were on the wires prior to removal from BellaCorse so connection was plug and play. http://www.flickr.com/photos/58205922@N04/sets/72157625887749676/

Did you have any problems removing the post from the light housing? Mine seems to be stuck...I thought I would have to drill out where it seems to be "stamped" but i see you didn't on yours. What's the trick?

Now with a name like Friar, you should know it is a robe! Plus its a robe because we ride British steel. I would ride a Honda if I were a Samurai!
Now as for SWA's post, the housings are locktight sealed to the posts. They can be unscrewed but you may need to heat up the locktight and exert a bit of pressure to get them release.

Hey Adam... can you tell me what thread size your stepfather put on there to match your shortened steps to the housing?

Pharmboy327, What was the final overall length of the wire housing shafts that go from the base to the turn signal housings?

I'm wondering. I was trying to thread a M10 bolt in there but it wouldn't go. Not sure what the pitch was though.

If ya take the bolts to your local hardware store, You can then try nuts till ya find the ones you like. ( You should probably not wear a robe, you may catch some funny looks. )
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

I would agree with Warlock. I recall the original thread to be M10 x 1.25. I was checking back on emails from my stepfather and I recall he did end up tapping the bulb housing to a slightly larger bore and made it a standard thread. It may have been he did not have metric tap and die to match the housing thread, I can't remember. I had him cut down the shaft to about 1.25" plus the threaded ends. I have a BackOff plate frame and measured from the plate mount housing to the edge of the frame plus 0.25".
