A while back there was discussion on how different front tires fit. I finally took a pic of how my Kenda 120/90/18 fits with the un-modified front fender. It's close, but it isn't an issue until speeds exceed 90MPH.

Too close for comfort? If you picked up a small stone in the tire tread or if you were riding in hot weather on hot pavement would it rub, I wonder.

I rode a 6 mile dirt/rock/gravel "improved" road yesterday and heard several rocks that got picked up. They didn't pose a problem. They either got crushed by the fender brace or simply flung out.
As for rubbing, if you look closely you can see that it has rubbed right at the center. I knew when it happened by the smell of burning rubber. That only happened at an indicated 96MPH...

How does it feel on hard cornering?

I took a few miles to get used to the handling difference when i went up from a 110/90, but it still handles and sticks great. It felt really weird at first! I guess the best way i can describe it would be to say it felt like slower steering response? It just takes a little more effort to carve a turn but it still does it. After 100 miles of "break-in" I no longer even notice the difference.
I should add that the larger circumference and added weight did seem to smooth the ride a bit as an added bonus.

Sounds like all to the positive, what about speedo error? I guess once you learn actual your actual velocity as to speed indicated, it's a non-issue. Bigger tires do look cool IMHO.

I don't have a GPS to confirm it, but i believe it makes the speedo accurate.

In my experience, it made the speedo more accurate but the odometer got off a bit. I need to confirm with gps also. The Speedmaster fender has a flatter contour across the top, which makes it way close to the 120/90 tire. The America fender is a lot more rounded so there is plenty of clearance.

The fender support bracket is in the same position on both models i believe. Cutting the middle out of it will fix that clearance issue though.

Right, but the contour of the fender is what I'm talking about.

See yours...

and mine...

I can't find a pic with the same low angle, but I hope I'm getting my thought across.
There was clearance between the mounting bracket and the fender on mine, I bet it's a lot closer to the Speedy fender. The fender itself doesn't have as much curve around the tire. Anyway, I'm amazed it didn't rub until you got in the 90s, mine rubbed on the mount at about 40mph.

Wonder what speed it will rub at during the summer months, when warmer temp's, hotter road surfaces, will increase the tire temp., increasing PSI, and therefore, the tire dia.?

It was during the summer that it happened. I put this tire on then pulled it back off when i realized it was rubbing. I couldn't see wasting a tire so i put it back on when my other one wore out. I don't have to commute down the interstate any more so i don't ride that fast very often now.

I have a speedy with a 120/90/18 IRC tires. Mine looks about as close as yours. Cut the bracket. I cut mine and don't rub at all with speeds over 100.
