Being short in the legs I find it a bit of a reach to the sidestand and today was worse because for the first time I got caught out in the rain on my new bike and I found trying to flick up the sidestand was a very slippy affair.

Ok I have heard that Triumph make what they call a foot finder extension that fits the sidestand to make it easier to get at but just my luck they have it on there site but with no photo or information how it works.

So I am hoping some members here may have this part fitted to there bike and could post a photo and some infomation if this part has making kicking the sidestand up an easier job for people like myself who suffers from ducks disease.

I have installed the extender on my side stand in @ 5 Min. It just bolts to the side stand and kind of sandwiches the side stand. Sorry I can't send you any pics but bike is in storage for her winter nap. I did find it helped a good amount not perfect but it did help. I feel it could have been a few inches longer but I have really short legs .

I don’t usually comment on guys unable to get it up. And I know this won’t go down well with the purists. But have you considered fitting up a stand that automatically retracts when you take the weight off, there seem to be plenty about.

Behave yourself Mo.

I only have problems getting it down when it is up.

Well in my defense I submit I had changed the post several times before I did finally submit it. I myself don’t suffer from Duckism being 6’2” and have no problem getting it up at all. However I can see that it may be a bit of a problem for those forum members of shorter stature, as it can be a bit or a reach. I thought my suggestion of a stand that pops up on its own would be worth a consideration.

Well I always wanted a Triumph and I thought I end up with a Bonnie and then the Speedmaster came along now I do love this bike but being only 5'6" in the old scale the riding postion in a bit of a stretch for me.

I need to do four things to set this bike up for myself and my wife for her I going to have to fit a sissy bar and maybe a America seat and for me a set of footboards and this foot finder extension to get at the sidestand and hopefully that should set the bike up the way I want it and like I said I like the Bonnie's but I love my Speedmaster cheers.

I find that the extender is very helpful in the rain because it is a flat surface, and catches the lug of my boot far easier than the rounded tang. I'll post a picture.
It isn't a very long piece, but it fits into the lug of your boot a LOT better when it is raining.

One more, showing how it is installed a little better. Just sandwiches the tang. Actually it was a job that I would say is G rated on the curse scale. Sorry for the blurring of the photo...camera phone.

One more thought...I sold my floorboards because I was continually smashing my shin trying to get under them to catch that tang, and it didn't improve too much with the extender. My shoe size is 4 1/2 boys. Little feet. I'm running a different set of pegs which actually feel more like a cross between the floorboards and pegs, and they are adjustible. They had been on Brent's Speedmaster, and fit fine on my America with a couple of nylon washers to fill the gap since it is not actually a Triumph part. I also use a seat pad to move me that little bit forward to reach everything more solidly. LOVE my bike!

Wait till your sidestand gets sticky. Trying to lower it when your boots are wet is a major pita. Never even thought that the issue would be raising it. What with a wide open target and such. When retracted the target is a medium sized ball bearing. A solution would be to rock the bike forward and let the ground lift the stand a bit for you. Then you should be able to reach the side stand with your boot to finish the lift process.

Yep! That was me for years, reachin' down there like that and workin' the kickstand by hand because the tang broke off of mine back around 2006....which I would come to understand was a somewhat common "ailment" on the kickstands of early BAs.

But a few months ago I finally broke down a bought a new one.

I had forgotten how convenient it was to just throw my long left leg out there and work the sucker.

(...and now no longer will I occasionally be banging of my helmeted head on the left end of my handlebars when I'd reach down there)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Thank you MsChevious1 for the photo's and infomation I sure it has helped me and others here that have trouble trying to get at the sidestand why Triumph made the placement of the stand so far forward is beyond me but it makes you feel that people who designed this bike must of all stood over 6' tall anyway I have ordered the foot finder extension but that is interesting what you said about the footboards about hitting your shin I may have to look at different pegs myself cheers.

I think a lot of us have trouble getting the stand up. Keeping it well lubricated helps a lot... ya don't have to get such a good and proper purchase on the thing when it swings easily.

I have the kickstand extender and it's wonderful, I'm 5'4", even in the rain. As MsChevious1 said, it's so easy to grab with the bottom of my boot.

I went to switchblade foot pegs from Kuryaken. My husband has the same foot pegs on his V-Rod. They work great and were not expensive and I put them on quite quickly myself.
