Ok I love my new Speedmaster even the wife said it's is one of the best bikes I have owned but and there is always a but she hates the seat my good wife has only sat on the bike in the garage at home but I have been told the seat has to go so some advice here please should I look at a America seat or go for a aftermarket one I know when I had my Harley I put a Sundowner seat on it and it was far better than any OEM seat Harley had made so are the America seats any good cheers.

if you go with the stock America set up,(which is what i have) be sure and go with the latest edition of the pillion. the first two were not not impressive (my wife hated them) but it seems this last one i got is ok by her.

ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

The stock speedmaster seat isn't in the same league as the america seat in terms of pillion comfort. The gunfighter speedmaster seat isn't really for riding 2up. Anything, including rolled up newspapers would be an improvement. That said, I purchased the speedmaster "touring" seat. It's better but still not as good as the stock america. If you don't go with Corbin or the few others who make seats for these bikes, get the america seat. Not to mention you can easily ditch the pillion and go for a single look when you want to.

The roadster seat on the speedmaster is really for one person and a pillion rider only for a very short distance. If you are going to be going two up a lot, there are quite a few options. from the Butty Buddy to a solo seat with with a larger pillion (America seat), or any number of customs. I bought a solo seat, had it made more comfortable from Greatdayride.com and bought a new style Pillion from a friend who was never going to use it. I know several people have the touring seat and really seem to like it.

Cheers and congrats on the new bike.

The larger America pillion seat that started as stock in 2007 is a very comfortable passenger seat. I changed my 05 America pillion for the 07 and my wife has been very happy every since. We have the tall backrest rack also.

I would think this setup would be much more comfortable than the Speedmaster seat - for a passenger.

Renee went around the block on the stock Speedmaster seat. Once. I finally went with the touring seat and she finds it quite comfy. We didn't like the angle of the stock sissy bar with the touring seat so I tweaked it a little and she likes it just fine now.

As already noted - without spending a bunch of $$, the options are the Touring seat or the newer America seat.

Maybe it depends on how much padding each person has, butt (sic), I found my skinny bum couldn't handle the stock Speedmaster seat for any longer than 3 or 4 hours. After that no amount of stopping would sort out the discomfort. That's when i began searching for an alternative.

As for the pad on the end of it, I had more sense to think my missus would ride sitting on it for longer than down to the coffee shop.

What I realised was, the discomfort not only spoiled what should have been good memories, it took my mind off the job at hand ie; it potentially was dangerous.

Now we realise we're all different and some don't have any issues with the stock seat but I knew if I wanted to travel half descent K's, I'd have to invest in something better.

Anyway after much talking to blokes on here I decided for various reasons a Corbin with backrest and the pillion seat as an addition when needed was the bpick up 8 est way by far to go.

To date I'm still greatful I went this way and have never regretted forking out the extra moolah once.
