I'll be there Thursday afternoon for dinner. No reservations anywhere. I'll check the forecast, and may bring a tent. May not.

I plan to go to the NASCAR Southern 500 in Darlington, S.C. Saturday night. I don't even have a ticket. Just thought I'd go and scare one up once I get there. Then I have the whole week after to get back home. Might stop and check out some Civil War points of interest if anyone has any suggestions. I've been through Birmingham the last two years, and still have not stopped at Barber Motorsports Park, so that's also on my radar.

Is it May, yet?

Thanks Ryan, I may take you up on that offer.Right now my plan is to stay at the campground, weather permitting.

Yeah, well, um, .....
I don't think this is going to work out in 2011.

I have hurt my back among other things.

Dangit Ryan! Thought we had heard the last of 'as the tree&ladder turns'. Hope your back gets better soon.

P.S.: I edited your post to place your news outside the quoted bits.

I left the house this morning around 7.
made it 40 miles and had to turn around.
technical difficulties with the car and the trailer.
will evaluate and attempt to make the trip again monday or tuesday.
not looking good at the moment , but i have not missed a GA trip yet.

err, what's your status? Car and trailer still messing with ya? even though it means leaving the clubs at home, you could travel the old fashioned way and ride down.

Hey all. I will pull in between 7-8 in the morning on the 6th. The trailer is packed. I have a 12x12 canopy shelter, a portable grill to go and a charcoal grill, a cooler full of Yuengling and a bottle of bourbon, 5 chairs so far and a couple of tarps. I haven't got any food of yet but will send my wife out for the camping basics and pack that too. I will be ready to ride as soon as I pull the bike off the trailer and if you have anything that needs to be locked up, you can throw it in the truck or the trailer. My flight out of Texas is at 9pm on Thursday. Looking forward to seeing everyone again and meeting those I have not yet met. Take care on the ride down or the ride up. I also have an extra tent if anyone needs one.

Paul

Paul, Looks like you'll be arriving about the time all the hot water has been used up at the campground! Safe travels to you. Its been a long time. Was reading how an F2 spinner touched down SSE of Suches and spun up to Helen. 1/4 mile swath.

I spent last night in West Memphis. 600 miles, yesterday. Got there at 11:30 last night. Was told earlier in the evening that I-40 was closed/flooded in both directions between Hazen and Forest City, Ar.. That cost me an hour or more before dark scoping out the detour, etc....then when I got down the road, East-bound traffic was moving along.

I left before 8:00 this morning, and rolled in to Dawsonville before 9:00 tonight. Missed dinner.

I'm headed to Myrtle Beach in the morning. I hate to think I won't see any of you all. Maybe I can. I'll look up the campground, and maybe I can head there on my way out. I did not sleep last night, and must tonight. I was blacking out all day, today, but did ride some awesome roads in Tennessee and Georgia, too. Very tired, though. Just ate. I'll check back here in the morning.

I can be texted at (713) 875-6474, but I'm keeping the phone off to conserve the battery for another week.

Ya'll be safe out there.

Just got the word that we have to work all weekend all night . Bummer . Work and sleep . We have to pave roads under the cloak of night due to traffic . This is no fun .

I'm gone back to sleep .

Pete, sorry you did not make it... heck, I live here and I am sorry I did not make it, ended up working yesterday and spent today locked in a windowless room writing a proposal... but future work means future gas money. Maybe we will make it next year and I will buy you a beer.

Hey gang it was a blast to see some old friends and meet a new friend or two. I've not laughed some much in months. The weather was fantastic this year.
Thanks to the Sheps for the great dinner, I got in late Thursday and Larry was pulling out as I was pulling in. I did not get to personally thank the family but here's to you guys and gals
We did a lot more talking than we did riding this year which was great. We fixed Newts charging issue on the 02 and wired tied a Rocket together
All in all I think 2011 was a fun and relaxing Rally. looking forward to 2012.

I found Lumpkin !

Providence Canyon too.

Pitched a tent on a site in Rood Creek that Johnny had.

Ever hear of the Angel City Rally?

Johnie aka Top-hat aka Diesel was the MC for the past 5 years or so. We stayed up drinking whiskey all night it seems.

Next morning got up and rode to the Rally. Along the way took some photographs of the Euharlee Covered Bridge.

Stopped about eleven miles out from Water's Mill to brush my teeth and freshen up.

Arrived about 3pm and chatted with the folks there. Larry and his son Jim had a fantastic spread for us.

Check out this place.

The Rally that wasn't a rally was awesome!
Great campsite and a relaxing stay.
Got Greg to do a little work

Paul arrived early thirty Friday Morning and set up his canopy, grills and coolers.

We spent a lot of time around the campfire.

Scott took a while to arrive due to detours caused by flooding. So Charlie made sure we had a welcome sign up for him.

And Scott (a day late and a dollar short) had some gremlin bells for Charlie.

Scott has a nice trailer hitch.

Colours

Had a pizza dinner at Chy and Di's place on Saturday evening.

Left the Rally Sunday 8:30 am. Rode cross country home. No slabs. Came across this way out in the sticks.

This little feller too.

Wheeler!

When I got down to Folkston the ashes were flying and the smoke was thick.

This is the sun

South of Folkston

Rolled in my driveway at 10:27pm.

I'm home after spending some time with my folks for Mother's Day yesterday. Had an awesome time even if we chilled out more than rode. I had a GA Rally 10 rocker patch fall out of my pocket sometime during the rally (or at a gas station somewhere). If anyone found it could you let me know. I guess it serves me right for not sewing it on my jacket already.

after spending the night with my kid brother and seeing my daughter in orlando last night, i finally made it home just a while ago. all i can say about this yr is, for being a none rally it was one of the best. like somebody said, didnt do a lot of real riding although we did manage to get a ride in to Helen up wolf pen and out 60 past suches, Charlie made that ride interesting but he came through unharmed and thats the important thing, and i think we all had a real good time visiting. Paul, i will camp with you anytime my friend. folks this guy takes camping serious, i mean it just dont get much better!!! as usual the Sheps DID IT UP!!!! the weather could not have been much more perfect for camping and being that i havnt done that in so many yrs i dont remember the last time, it will always be special. GREAT seeing everyone and i hope all made it home safe!!!!! good lord willin, lets do it again next yr.

ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

What a non-rally! Pulled in a little after midnight. The Barber Museum is not meant to be seen in a few hours. Bike made it home without anything falling off. Thanks for the help zip tying and bungee cording everything together. Can't wait to see yall again.

I made Myrtle Beach about 8:00 Friday night, coming in on wet roads, but saw no rain. Saturday, I made the Southern 500 in Darlington, then back to Myrtle Beach - got to bed about 4:00 after stopping to eat.

Sunday I rested, and took a long walk on the beach.

Monday, I rode from Myrtle Beach to Jackson, Ms., stopping before the sun got down to right in my eyes. 786 miles. All is good.

Heading on to Natchitoches, La., to see my youngest son, then most likely on to Houston, this evening.

It was great seeing everyone! Thanks Di, for helping to make that happen!

Rocket update:

$9168 in damages! And I thought H-D parts were high. After my deductible and a 10% appearance part reduction (no need to replace dirty chrome) insurance gave me $7400. 4000 miles since Georgia and only 3 zip ties left on the bike now. Waiting on a new floorboard and paint work. Thanks again for all the help. See yall next year if not sooner!
