Scott, in an attempt to boil all this down, here are the pertinent posts within this thread: snekeptp (first to mention Rally dates), Quote:
Chy, Di, you are wonderful people and truly great friends. I will be in GA this year and will, as most years in the past , take you to dinner on Sunday. Date TBD. Early May will be the norm. nothing will be asked of you, as this will be a stop on a trip , "not a rally" I will be stopping in GA and invite others to join me. We found a camp round owned by a British couple who will keep us rowdy triumph riders away from others. points of interest and maps may be provided , or not. simply follow another bike and you will find another great road. I am not going to a rally, I am going to see a friend! on my way to see another friend who lives near another friend, on my way to my aunts house!! any one want to stop by??? My friends live north of Atlanta, my relatives live south of Atlanta, and I intend to play golf with my uncle, and a 4th will be welcome. if there are a large group of golfers we may have an 8th. what ever works. I am thinking this will be a short stop possibly May 6,7,8
please voice your opinion
but please remember, you are only responsible for yourself. this is not an organized meeting. just a stop on a trip not to impose on any one.
PS, I will be towing my bike and sleeping in my car. unless I find a really, really cheap motor home/toy hauler.
please beat me down if I am out of line. but I am trying to relieve others. and provide an outlet for an addiction of southern mountains.
anybody? anybody? am I out of line?

It kinda sounds like the start of a plan. Rest assured I will join you for a "few rides". And even a day of Golf, Hmmm got back into that after a 16 year layoff, about 2 months ago. Never can tell might even find time to do a little 'smokin' (no not that kind, but the meat variety) just need a place to have a mini feast.

If there is going to be a 2011 get-together in early May, My wife and I could host a dinner at our facility (www.watersmill.com). I know my Dad (Larryshep) would be willing to smoke a ham and turkey! Due to date commitments at our facility, I think we'd only be able to host the Dinner on Thursday evening (ed. May 5th 2011 dinner), but our doors are open for all of you to come! And I'm sure we'd be able to talk my Mom into a few cakes as well!
I know it's early, but if we could get a date that I could block out on our calendar, that would be great.
Let me know!

I think this is the camp ground the guys found last year. The owners said they would put us down by the river away from the other guests so we do not disturb anyone with our late night chit-chat. etowah river campground

Now that I have moved back from Arizona and live only 31 miles from Dahlonega, I find the Etowah River Campgrounds a nice camping option. I will be able to provide a 6x10 trailer for storage & security for distant riders, a big 3-4 person tent (unless my wife comes, I'll use the single), a popup 10x10 enclosed canvas shelter (maybe 2), A gas grill, 4-6 chairs (maybe 8) and I can bring a generator but the sites have electricity and water. I couldn't find if the campground offered showers. I will also be able to bring quite a bit of food and drink and coolers. If it is still on I am excited to hit the mountains. I have been up in them several times since I moved back East. I will be on my Tiger and leave the Bonneville America at home. Hope no one is offended. Will take May 5-9 off. It seems all plans are tentative. Hope things solidify.
