I modified my 17" Fats by cutting out holes on each side to clear my driving lights (unlike the Roadster, the Fats doesn't have this provision). That gap on either side must be just enough to disrupt any turbulence. I like riding with an open-faced 3/4 helmet and it is pleasant. When I pop the screen back on in October, I'm amazed how nice it is riding behind the screen, particularly on the interstate where I'm not required to hang onto the bars for dear life. That makes the screen worthwhile to me. Of course, I had the Roadster screen and didn't feel that had any real buffeting issues either. Guess I'm just the right size?
