Surely, you are in a better place...

I hope they don't call you Shirley.

Could he make you laugh or what? Sadly, in a way, his success in his comedy roles have over shadowed his earlier serious acting roles. He will be missed.

He was in my favorite sci-fi movie, The Forbidden Planet filmed in the 1950s. (1956 if I remember right) He was very funny too, a loss to be sure.

surly one of my most favorite character actors of all time!!! of all the old westerns and sci-fi movies he was in he will surly be remembered most, as the bumbling detective or the doctor in the airplane series, but whatever role he was given he always made it his.

ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

What?! Leslie Neilson just died???!!!

MAN!!! I sure picked the wrong week to stop drinking!!!

RIP, Leslie.

(...and yeah folks, I know that was actually Lloyd Bridges' line in that movie, but it just seemed appropriate for some reason...NOT that I would actually stop drinking, you understand!!!)

From Hollywood Reporter: "Leslie Nielsen, the actor best known for starring in such comedies as Airplane! and the Naked Gun film franchise, died Sunday of complications from pneumonia at a hospital near his home in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. He was 84."

A hospital? What is it?

It's a big building with patients in it, but that's not important right now!

Yeah Joe! And ain't it a shame Barbara Billingsley is dead, 'cause she could have reported the news of Leslie's passing on the BET Network to all our soul brothers out there!!!

(...Dat's da fact, Jack!)

There is a funny film, but not overly campy, called Men With Brooms an indie Canadian film if I remember right. He is like the coach of a comeback curling team. I highly recommend it. He was Canadian after all.

Here it is...Men With Brooms

The world is a little less funny today.

Has anyone else noticed how Canadian folk (Red Green, Lorne Greene, Neil Young, John Candy, Ann Murray, Micheal J. Fox), in addition to Mr. Neilson, seem to have the same sense of humour??

I'm thinking "they" all might be the same person, the common thread being a really good make-up artist workng under the fictitous pseudonym "Mountainman"

Good point, John. In fact, come to think of it, when I got to Trail BC the other week and when I first pulled up in front of Keith's house, I was thinkin' I might've even spotted William Shatner and Alex Trebek walkin' out of it that afternoon!!!

But at the time, I thought it might've just been my imagination.

(...OR...that I had somehow gotten a strong whiff of some sweet smelling smoke that was wafting up from his house as I drove up, and that I was just seein' things that weren't really there!!!)

I don't think the newer shows are as funny as the older shows. Still a good show tho and I did not realize that he was Canadian too.

I'm sure Leslie Neilson would not mind these guys adding just a bit more Canadian humour to the mix. Pretty funny sh!t!

I used to love Police Squad, especially when they all froze at the end, but other things would happen while they were doing it
