Saw several of the new Indians up close and in person at Americade last year. Very cool. Pricey too. Don't know why you would go for a Fat Boy over one of those.
I'll give ya a few reasons why, Dave...
The Harley is more refined and is smoother running, as from all reports I've read in magazines(and confirmed by our very own Keith up in BC after he took a demo ride on a new Indian) the solidly mounted, non-balance shaft PowerPlus motor makes the Indian vibrate like a real son-of-a-gun.
The Harley costs less.
The sheer number of Harley dealerships located throughout the country would make owning the Harley much more convenient for servicing.
(..and yep, I too have always loved those postwar deco-styled closed-in fenders on the Indians, but closed-in deco-styled fenders do not make a motorcycle "great" alone)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
