A few years back I had a dog come out on to the road between two parked cars. I hit it and came off my bike then slid along the road and only stopped when my head hit the pavement (sidewalk). However I was wearing a helmet and only came out with a few bumps and grazes (something to think about to those of you who don't have compulsory helmet laws and choose not to wear one!
I killed the dog (it died in my arms)
