some people know how to care for their doggies, most really don't.
You seem like you really care for yours. I know how rewarding it can be to have a companion rather than a pet, as a dog should be.
To them you are the Alpha dog you lead them and care for them as an active member of the pack. Thats why they do as you say, and why they dont chase critters. If you wanted them to they would, but you dont so they dont.
You are the exception though, I see way to many dogs left to their own devises, and it gets them in trouble. I hate to say it but those folks shouldn't keep animals. I my self dont have the time to care for animals correctly so I dont keep any.
I once had a bird with which I had the same relationship you have with your dogs. Hurricane rita killed him, since then no animals for me.
