I bought my bike new in 05. It now has 67,000 miles on it. I had to take the fuel bung out Saturday and clean it off. This is the second time of doing this. I had to do it the first time around 5,000 miles I believe. My tank appears to have the fuel tank liner or coating inside. It is kinda of an off white color. I took it these bikes came with the tank creme inside from the factory. Does anybody elses bike have this inside the tank? I figure if they did not come with this from the factory maybe my tank leaked so they coated it.Just curious if it was stock issue or not.

Hey Michael, my '03 does that too. There is a white material that I first noticed flaking off from around the filler hole. I believe I've read somewhere around here of other people's bikes with the same condition.

I found this thread which seems to be about the same condition you're describing, Michael.
