Thanksgiving is upon us and I have yet to experience one Thanksgiving advert, t.v. special, or any decorations concerning this most nobel holiday in which we count out blessings dispite any ill-luck that has befallen us.
Have things gotten so bad we don't feel there is much to be thankful for, or are we so spoiled that greatfulness is a foriegn notion to us?
My personal thought is that it has become to difficult to destroy the Holiday with cheap plastic crap so the powers that be are trying to relegate it to obscurity . Like they have done with many other once recognized holidays. Such as Memorial day, Veterans day, Easter, and Independence day. The only way we even know some of these days still exist is because we are off work those days.
I had to look very hard to find a firework show this past year, and the beach was nearly vacant on Independence day.
I guess if wal-mart can't capitalize on it we don't do it anymore .
Its quite a sad state that we have become .
that being said if anyone is interested check this out and pm me if you want more details . Alright guys Sunday the 21st we are going to ride out from JJ's bar "where the good times roll" on a charity run. We are trying to raise enough money to give a Thanksgiving meal to some poor families because some ill fate has befallen them, and have found themselves in need. Just 20 bones per bike. The ride will be escorted , and you will have the privelage to ride with the Legionaires, the Patriot gaurd, BACA, along with many other noble riders who gather for the good of others.

Maybe no body's talking about it, but you should've seen the crowd at the grocery store today hauling turkeys out by the buggy full! The old gal in front of me at the check out had 4 of them... Thanksgiving's alive and well at her house!

On Independance Day we always have a party with fireworks and retire any old worn out flags as my friend plays Taps on his trumpet. I was just talking to a friend about how Christmas decorations are already being put up, seems we skipped Thanksgiving all together.

Well Ron, all I can tell ya is that before being sent to North Africa, Sicily, Italy, and shortly after D-Day to France, my Pop was sent to Fort Bliss Texas in early 1942 for Anti-Aircraft Artillery Training, and while there he told me he had learned a little ditty he said some of the recruits would march to while in formation...a song he would occasionally sing the rest of his life...and it went somethin' like this:

(to the tune of the famous WW1 Doughboy song "Mademoiselle from Armentieres")

Texas is a h*ll of a state
Parlez-vous

Texas is a h*ll of a state
Parlez-vous

Texas is a h*ll of a state
the armpit of The Forty-Eight

Hinky-dinky, parlez-vous

(no offense meant here, ol' buddy...I just thought you like to know some little known WWII trivial here, that's all!!!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I'm going down to Ft. Bliss in a couple weeks to visit a friend in the Army... I haven't been down there in 10 years myself.

Yep, Chad. In fact, once...down in the west Texas town of El Paso, I fell in love with a Mexican girl.

(...oh wait a minute, that wasn't me, that was Marty Robbins...sorry, never mind)

I only asked cause I thought you used to have Houston before. Posting something about JJ's in a State the size if France is a little too vague.
