Kamiskotia ski hill is just 20km from town. It was the home of Cathy and Laurie Kreiner. Both were former champions, Kathy a former gold medalist for Canada in the Olympics. She was also a bridesmaid in our wedding many years ago.
So, even though the hills are mild by BC standards, the small Northern Ontario group population still leave their legacy in skiing, music, hockey....Shania Twain, the Kreiners, Frank Mahovalich, Allan Stanley, Tim Horton, Dean Prentice, etc etc.
