I don't think anyone here has done it but if anybody has any pics of one on a speedy or America I would love to check it out. My wheels are turning.

I think a jockey shift would be fairly easy to do on the left. We have a member who did a suicide shift on the right. I have shots of the bike somewhere but not sure where.

That would be cool. Cant wait to see the pics. I'm actually surprised I didn't get a bunch of "why would you want to do that" replies.

I'm not too worried about the shift set up. I guess it would be just a short arm and a pinch bolt of some sort. The clutch I would guess needs some kind of mechanical advantage to compensate for the lever action if I used the foot shifter for the clutch.

oh Its on the shifter, yeah thats a bad idea. I ran one of those on my buddies soft tail and it was super dangerous. that's why I wanna do a foot clutch.

The first one was on the shifter but Tommy I don't think has it on the shifter. I have been thinking about doing one with a foot clutch, I think the foot clutch should be pretty easy to do.

Why on Earth would you want to put the shifter on the right side? Then you have to take you hand off the throttle completely to change gears, which overall would slow you down taking off up through the gears.

Probably because he still operates the clutch with his left hand (as may be surmised).

If and when I end up doing one myself for myself I'll do the foot clutch.

There are a lot of awesome bikes on here. Some that have inspired me, some that have made me green with envy and some that make me look into the future of my own bike. Only the bike above makes me stop and stare, drool and smile....D@MN what a ride.

If I squint that bike looks pretty good. The stance is right on, and I like the rubber/wheels (minus the red). But the rear fender is too short, the chrome slip n slide seat with springs (on a suspended bike) and that ridiculous shifter are asinine if you have any intention of riding the bike to its potential.
Cut it up.

The bike is nice, but not that great. I think my bike is nicer, haha. Jockey shift is cool and about the only thing that makes it special.

He was running the stock hand clutch. He bought a 2nd set of fwd controls to fabricate the linkage required for the jockey handle. I don't have any close-ups of that linkage, but it is pretty well done. If you had floorboards and bought the rocker shifter, I'm wondering if you could make that into a foot-clutch? A buddy had an old Triumph that he put a foot clutch on. He bent a piece of tubing, put tabs on it and used it to run the cable to the clutch cable out of the transmission.

I'm all for creativity and hard work if it is purposeful . What I see when I look at that bike is a dude sliding around in his seat while fumbling for a shift lever with his hand which should be on the throttle so he can pull away from that cage that is about to rear end him.
And I have no problem with folks who want to critcize my bike, everybody has their own tastes of course. But one thing I haven't done is make it LESS rideable.

I have to agree with Mark and Ian here, about the shifter anyway. While I've always thought the above bike was and is very nicely done, I too must ask the following: WHY would one purposely take the best handling "cruiser" model motorcycle on the market today("today" being the operative word here, as "today" in essence would mean "modern" in every sense of the word: DOHC engine, disc brakes, etc) and THEN retrofit an obsolete form of shifting mechanism(motorcycle design progressed to a hand clutch/foot shift pattern for a reason, ya know...and that reason was primarily for convenience, smoothness and safety of operation) to such a modern machine??? Yep, like I said, I very much like what was done to the above bike, but come on here, WHY the hand shift??? Just to be "different"??? (or...as the old sayin' goes, "Just 'cause something CAN be done, doesn't necessarily mean it SHOULD be done!"...OR...if ya want to retrofit a hand shifter on a "modern" bike, THEN do THAT to a friggin' Big Twin Harley, 'cause THEY'RE not designed to actually be ridden, but just slowly "cruised" upon while lookin' "oh so cool" to everybody else out there!!!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Just to be cool. I'd consider it if I had a separate bar bike or show bike. Never in a million years on a bike I ride daily. Don't really care what the haters think.

ya know I kinda think that bike was awesome back when there was only a few customs to gawk at. That was "THE" bike to be inspired by when the photopost was around. I remember Larkfarms bike was revolutionary back then too. And that was just cause it was one of the first flat black bikes on here.
Now theres a lot more customs to pick at and compare with, and Tommy's bike doesnt have the same impact as it once did. Especially to the newer guys on here.

With 20/20 hindsight it's still a really nice ride, it's just a bit more subtle than some that have arrived on the scene since then...
