Brrrr- vrroom! 38 Degrees when I left the house this morning for work. Light overpants, sweatshirt, balaclava, jacket, mittens...
Nothing like cold weather riding. It provides all the fun of snowmobiling without the distracting
snow-bunnies, hot tubs, cocoa etc.

It was around 27F when I left for work on Tuesday morning.  It helps to have a full fairing, heated jacket liner, heated grips and heated seat.

34F when I left for my morning commute. 30-32 is my limit, since I don't have heated gear. Below that I get too cold to enjoy the ride. Still, at least with our weather I don't have to put it away; rarely more than week passes between rides. When I can't ride I remind myself of those of you that don't have that option and quit feeling sorry for myself.
VStar's been sitting too long; I was going to trade off and ride it today (the America was on reserve) but I apparently need to put it on a trickle charger. Its been awhile since it has been ridden, and with riding opportunities dwindling...

Yeah, 30 is about my limit too. Or when they start dumping salt and gravel on the roads.

The clutch slips when its cold (like 45 deg F or less) until the bike warms up. Never happens once the bikes warm or in warmer temps. My bikes always done it. Anyone else have that happen?

Well boys and girls sorry to say this. "Forecast today is 28c and sunny" definitely going for a ride to try out my new Progressive 418's.

29 deg gettysburg pa wed morning on way to work.Will be about the same tommorow morning when I hop on and go.Heated grips,full face helmet and carharts on the Tiger.Sat morn commutes early morning with no traffic I wouldnt miss it.

That's a new one for me Dave. I've had the bike out in 32° or even less and not once did I notice a problem with the clutch. I don't want (oh no... I really don't want) to make this into an oil thread, but it might have something to do with the oil you're running.

the first number on the oil bottle has to do with cold temperatures you may need to change to a lighter oil. like maybe 10-50

Last winter I had 20/50 oil in my ba. I was riding all winter with temps in the hi 20s with no issues withanything but cold hands.

I'm running 15-50 full synthetic. Only get the slip the first time I pull out onto the road. Doesn't happen after that. Maybe the oil is just a little thick before it gets warmed up a bit.

Yep Frank....don't start.....remember last year when you ate your words after you got that.....er....bobo. You can't rub it in....(being able to ride all year round that is) without some kind of Northern Psychic backlash coming your way...... Yah, that's what it is.... "Northern Psychic Backlash" Choke.
Us Canuks relish the 5 or 6 months we get but then we can snowmobile, downhill/cross country ski, ice fish and generally freeze, that's why our southern brothers call us Snowbirds with the mass exodus to Florda.

I've ridden my BA into the single digits with no issues. I run Lucas 20w50 semi synthetic MC oil year round. I do let the bike warm up for a minutes or so, long enough to get my helment and gloves on. Not a lot in the way of cold weather gear. 2 pair of thick socks, insulated work boots (Lacrosse) Double layer long johns, flannel pj pants, canvas jeans, t-shirt, sweat shirt, leather jacket,neck gaiter and gloves. No heated grips or plug in clothing. Riding further than to work or no errands I limit my temps to the mid twenties. Also I use my 650L for most cold/inclement weather riding, it catches peoples eye more than my BA (LOUD A** dirt bike on the street effect), better visibility (35.5 inch seat height),it's easier to clean up but mostly it keeps the road salt off my BA.
Outside a dog a book is a mans best friend, inside a dog it's to dark to read.

I hear ya bro.... lows in the 40's here with highs only in upper 50's and low 60's .... I have broken out the "Yamaha Bunny Suit" ..... when it drops another 10 degrees it will be time to "un-moth ball" the electrics for the rest of the Winter...... ready for March ! when it gets back to the 80's

I rode this morning to work.It was 33 deg.I guess Im a sicko but I thouroughly enjoy riding when its cold,either my BA or Tiger is fun but the Tiger is better suited.
